Applications Workstream Lead/Programme Manager

£850 per day, Umbrella rate, inside IR35

Leading Investment Management business are embarking on a large scale technology transformation to build a contemporary and scalable technology platform to support the businesses long term growth. The purpose of this role is to act as the lead for the Applications workstream, working with the existing Architecture and Long Standing Product Teams to plan, design and implement specific work items listed as part of the overall data initiative. Then coordinating with other initiatives within the programme to deliver their data requirements.

The successful candidate will work in the transformation team and will be responsible for owning the programme application roadmaps primarily in the Front Office space (Portfolio, Order and Execution Management with supporting applications - Pricing, Analytics, Risk), working closely with the Long Standing Technology development teams (LST's) to ensure the delivery of the Programme outcomes.

Key aspects of the role include.

  • Scope and shape the Application initiatives, producing EPICs, revised estimates, value/benefits statement
  • Ensure traceability to original Phase 2 activity
  • Identify and engage with Architecture and key Long Standing Teams
  • Form close working interaction with Product Owners and Business Owners
  • Refine the agreed engagement model with LSTs to ensure minimal disruption to Agile working patterns
  • Work with impacted LST's and Architecture team to map out solutions (logical) with a focus on cross team dependencies.
  • Assist in building Programme Increment plans, prioritisation and dependency mapping
  • Confirm resource/budget requirements for impacted LST's and facilitate the funding mechanism via the appropriate governance channel

Central to the success of the role will be the ability to define the strategic objectives for the Applications workstream and then create common purpose across multiple different Long-Standing Teams to deliver the Programme-prescribed outcomes, whilst those teams are also delivering to their Business Owner priorities.

It will require an experienced negotiator at various levels of management, able to work with these teams that will have different business owners and priorities to create and gain agreement to a co-ordinated set of programme-orientated outcomes.

Key Skills/Experience

  • A track record of managing IT programmes or multiple projects/workstreams in large programmes, within Asset Management
  • Strong understanding/experience within Asset Management including Fixed Income and Derivatives experience
  • Front Office tech projects experience is essential, good experience in the Front Office landscape, dealing with Front Office teams, stakeholders, prior experience of Front Office Technology projects.
  • Proven track record of coordination across multiple teams on projects and programmes.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Proven experience of Agile - Iterative, incremental Agile processes such as Scrum/Kanban and Scaled Agile practised such as SAFE.
