Communication & Stakeholder Engagement Lead - Inside IR35 - Public Sector - Edinburgh
Day Rate - Market Rates

Duration - 6 months

Harvey Nash's Client are looking for a Communication & Stakeholder Engagement Lead, you will Design, build then lead the Communication and Engagement Team for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) replacement programme, which is tasked with delivering significant climate change and environmental targets/commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on communications for the Agriculture Reform Implementation Oversight Board (ARIOB).
  • Lead in the creation and delivery of the Communication and Engagement strategy for the CAP replacement programme. The strategy will reflect the commitments to early engagement and consistent communication with internal and external users/stakeholders using a wide range of channels.
  • Working with other communication/engagement leads across Scottish Government (SG) and other public bodies you will create an action plan and a roadmap of stakeholder events.
  • Develop key messages and our approach to accessible, inclusive communications to both internal and external groups.
  • Working with colleagues across SG and public bodies, co-ordinate and lead the building of relationships with stakeholder groups to understand opinion and acceptability of the approach being taken, and inform wider policy direction and strategy.
  • Supporting the CAP replacement Board/ARIOB Board with a range of communication tasks including: coordinating responses and updating top lines briefing, liaison with key stakeholders and partner organisations and maintaining close working relationships with news, marketing and digital communications colleagues.
  • Lead the preparation for, and delivery of the communications and engagement work to support any associated organisational change, supporting the organisation through a period of significant change

Skills & Experience Required

  • You will have experience in communicating, supporting and influencing stakeholders (internal and external) through significant change in a politically sensitive environment
  • You will have experience of working across a large programme where there are multiple of channels of communication.
  • Experience of media and project management would be a requirement.
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills with the ability to empower others to deliver their best work and support one another.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience of communicating complex issues in an engaging, innovative way, using appropriate inclusive channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop credible and effective relationships of influence and to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver outcomes, taking account of sensitivities and diverse agendas.
