Job Title:: Data Analyst



Project type:: Inside IR35



Client :: Energy Oil and Gas company



Location:: London, UK



Duration:: 6-12 Months



The Data Analyst gathers, analyses and models data and key performance indicators to develop quantitative and qualitative business insights in an agile fashion, identifies opportunities for improved data analysis. Develops processes and design reports to boost the business intelligence within the organization and is good at effectively processing large amounts of data into meaningful information.



Responsibilities



The Data Analyst is responsible for identifying, analyzing and documenting the business needs. Is responsible for identifying relevant data to be gathered and implementing a solution to do so, including knowledge of where to get the data, how to extract it in the right format, and how to augment the data to support data science/analysis requirements. Ability to analyze and test end to end data flows spanning multiple systems. Work with the testing team to test the correctness and validity of data related code and fixes.



Accountabilities



•             Precisely capture business problems, value drivers, and functional/non-functional requirements, including health, safety, security, usability, data, and supportability considerations.



•             Translate business requirements into functionality and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options.



•             Assess and model processes, data flows, and technology to understand the bottlenecks and identify opportunities for improvement.



•             Create clear documentation to communicate requirements and related information; keep updated to align with the solution over the project lifecycle.



•             Ensure traceability of requirements from business needs and requirements, through testing and scope changes, to final solution.



•             Interact with software suppliers, designers and developers to understand software limitations, deliver elements of system and database design, and ensure that business requirements and use cases are handled.



•             Create acceptance criteria and validate that solutions meet business needs through defining and coordinating testing.



•             Create and present compelling business cases to justify solution value and establish approval, funding and prioritization.



•             Execute Data Analysis activities on projects within agreed parameters of cost, time and quality.



•             Understand and stay abreast of relevant architectures and technologies related to a business area.



•             Support stakeholder management activities including facilitation of large design sessions.

Core Skills



•             Graduate or Post graduate related to IT.



•             Knowledge of Business Analysis techniques and tools.



•             Knowledge of Informatica is desirable.



Leadership Skills



•             Have strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills. Is highly experienced in communicating with business at all levels.



•             Comfortable to work with global stakeholders, internally and externally.



•             Experience of working in a global business environment/different cultures.



•             Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and balancing multiple priorities.

Technical Skills



•             Experience with Informatica



•             Experience with SQL-based technologies (e.g. MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).



•             Experience with data blending technology (e.g. Alteryx)



•             Experience with Microsoft or AWS data stack e.g. Microsoft Azure Data Lake, Hadoop (preferably with Spark), Cosmos DB, HDInsight/HBase, MongoDB, Redis, Azure Table/Blob stores etc.



Job Experience Requirements:



•             Understands and has experience with concepts as Data Pipelining / Data Wrangling - [data collection extraction & processing]



•             Knowledge of the technology landscape including current and future developments and the most commonly available products and integrated solutions.



•             Ability to take a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving, interpretation of the data.



•             Experience with analyzing the alignment between business requirements and system capabilities.            



•             Has knowledge of the Business Intelligence technologies and their relevant functions (reporting, online analytical processing, analytics, data mining, process mining, complex event processing, business performance management, benchmarking, text mining, predictive analytics and prescriptive analytics.)                                                                                                                                             



•             Is aware of the Data Management Framework & practices, understands what is required to implement them effectively.



•             Understands and is experienced with Data Quality concepts like data cleansing



•             Awareness of Agile Framework and its tools such as Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS)         &
