Location: London, UK

The Design Expert will be a key role for GBGFs to achieve the following outcomes:

Shape the future high-level operating model for the Global Business or Function to navigate towards Platforms and introduce Value Stream delivery model
Help to design and deliver the business and IT architecture to meet the articulated strategic goals, customer needs and agreed benefits of the Global Business or Function
Engage with the Central Design Office to support the delivery of a Playbook to share Strategy, Org Structure, Process, Governance, People, Frameworks, Methods, Tools, Learning & Development
This will be achieved by working in Tandem with the GBGF Design Office who are developing a central blueprint and design patterns, and ensuring value stream design adoptions plans are validated to meet agreed goals of the transformation.
The Design Lead will be responsible for developing and designing the Agile Operating Model for their Global Business or Function. The Design Lead will work with the Central Design Office on targeted problem-solving on design issues, contribute to the development of central design documents and share learnings at the group level.
The Design Lead will be a key contributor to the Design Community forum, inputting on and identifying key Design SMEs within the GBGF to support the development of components of the Agile TOM Blueprint and Playbook.

To achieve this, the Design Lead will:

Lead the design and development of the Agile Operating Model for their Global Business or Function, aligning to Group standards where possible, and enabling the delivery of agreed benefits
Link into the Agile TOM programme through the Design Office Engagement Team to:
Update on the progress of the transformation communicating key delivery dates
Raise any risks or issues which require additional support for problem-solving
Escalate where agreed benefits are at a high risk of not being realised
Ensure alignment to the central Agile TOM Blueprint and Playbook.
Support the Design Office in the development of a Central Blueprint and Playbook, providing additional SMEs within the GBGF to ensure that the content delivered is fit for purpose from a GBGF perspective.
Attend, and input to the agenda for, the Agile TOM Design Community meetings to review and ratify content for the Central Blueprint and Playbook.
Communicate the developed Blueprint within the GBGF to ensure buy-in and socialisation of the future model.
Support the Design Office Engagement Lead in the fortnightly meeting with each GBGF Design Office Lead:
- Attend GBGF retrospectives or review Lessons Learnt to identify any group-level opportunities for continuous improvement

Key Activities:

Exhibit and encourage lean-agile mindset
Lead the design of a new operating model which delivers the business and IT architecture to meet strategic goals and customer needs
Collaborate closely with the Design Office and other Design Experts to design an operating model to enable the transformation within the GBGF, from initial design concepts through to detailed design and implementation of restructuring, process improvement, people capability development, governance, service re-design, and leadership and cultural change
Design new operating models that integrate structure, people, process and systems, whilst applying design thinking techniques to help develop new and innovate design solutions
Validate the focus areas for re-design which may include; cost reduction, growth, outsourcing, shared services, simplification, service innovation, digital business, operational effectiveness, and Back Office transformation
Design in detail the target Platforms and Pods, including service catalogue, organizational structure, and processes
Support the implementation of Platforms and Pods
Be proactive in assessing learnings to continuously improve the overall Agile TOM Blueprint

Experience & skills:

Depth of experience in Agile methodologies and in designing Agile Value Stream Operating Models for large, complex financial institutions
Deep IT and/or domain knowledge
Propensity for innovative thinking, with an eye towards how things should be done in the future
Experience in business architecture/organisational modelling & planning/tech operations in an agile environment
Strong communication skills and sound business judgment
Good problem-solving skills, ability to help others organize problem-solving
Experience identifying key issues, involve affected parties, design solutions, obtain buy-in, and communicate effectively through resolution
Ability to manage large-scale initiatives including stakeholders across business and technical teams
Ability to execute in a fast-paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
Ability to deliver concise time-critical information to all levels of management, technology, and business teams
