Description

Position: Consultant Engineering Planner

Location: Newbury

Duration: until 31/03/22 but opportunity to extend

IR35: Inside (contract would be via umbrella)

Clearance: MOD DV (due to the urgency of this our client requires someone with a active DV already held with the MOD)

The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Engineering Planner to join one of our client teams.

In your role you will be working with the MOD and our clients team to enable and achieve maximum benefits from digital transformation and innovative operations.

Duties will include:

  • Develop and maintain the integrated master plan, capture assumptions and identify dependencies.
  • Development of breakdown structures, quality criteria and product descriptions.
  • Lead the activities to create an appropriate reporting pack based on data within the IMS.
  • Support project managers to identify options to optimise delivery through resource smoothing, levelling and rescheduling of activities.
  • Challenge and test project assumptions to ensure that plans are realistic and achievable.
  • Apply advanced knowledge in the discipline of planning for the analysis and successful resolution of risks and issues and identification of opportunities.
  • Share knowledge of best practise and drive efficiencies within the plan.

Requirements:

Applicants will need to hold valid security clearance and also be qualified in, an accredited Project Management Certification eg Prince 2, PMP or APM.

A working knowledge and demonstrable experience in the following areas is requested:

  • Consulting experience within client environments, ideally including government and potentially with knowledge of excellent practices from other sectors that can drive client business process improvement
  • A solid understanding of one or more project and programme management methodologies
  • Practical and formal experience of both waterfall and Agile planning principles and methods
  • Primavera 6 experience to an advanced level
  • An understanding of Agile delivery tools
  • An analytical thinker with creative and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Experience or knowledge concepts such as resourcing and resource levelling, progress measurement, earned value analysis, completion forecasting and status reporting
  • Good Demonstrable report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop effective communication channels with key stakeholders
  • Strong Excel Skills and the ability to manipulate big data using spreadsheets
