About the Role

My client is seeking an experienced product manager for their Digital Travel Incubator program.

Their vision is to provide travellers with a journey that is literally as unencumbered as a walk in the park - a safe and seamless traveller journey from home to destination, access to destination events and back.

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of the latest e-passport market, biometric, mobile and digital identity technologies. Experience of Border control systems and Digital Travel Credentials (DTCs) would also be advantageous.

With the widest range of solutions available in the market to assist Governments towards their optimum digitised and integrated border management system, you could work across several products from the client's Borders portfolio.

Reporting to the Head of Strategy, you will be a part of the Border Management business - the business making national borders frictionless, yet safe and secure.

Key Duties:

Product Strategy

  • Thoroughly analyse and develop a deep understanding of market trends and customer needs.
  • Propose and execute the strategy for the product(s).
  • Articulate and document the product vision, strategy and define the target market.

Sales/Channel Strategy and Support

  • Establish and implement an effective channel 'go to market' strategy for products, to include an agreed and executed sales and marketing plan.
  • Support bid management processes and pre-sales customer interactions.
  • Support Sales teams with a clear product value proposition and training.

Product Innovation/Definition

  • Through a thorough understanding of customer needs, the competitive landscape and market trends, regularly identify new propositions, as well as requirements for enhancements to existing products/services.
  • Accountable for the products' functional requirements.
  • Lead/Sponsor of each product development project throughout the build/launch process to ensure delivery of the right product to market, within the agreed timescales. Propose process improvements where necessary.
  • Develop and lead a cross functional team that helps shape ongoing strategy and ensures the timely/cost effective and quality delivery of product developments and product performance.
  • Manage partnerships and supplier relationships.
  • Responsible for ensuring viable product specifications and designs are in place to drive product creation and evolution.

Product Road map/Life Cycle Management

  • Secure investment from senior management for your product, by creating a compelling product and business case.
  • Develop and manage the product road map throughout the life cycle from conception to retirement.
  • Track and make recommendations on the management of product P&L, revenue, new business and profitability including competitive pricing in the marketplace to achieve desired sales volumes/optimized profit.
  • Make recommendations for the planning and prioritization of product investments with the context of the solution line portfolio strategy.

Product Marketing/Value Proposition/Market Intelligence

  • Define and develop the portfolio/product value proposition.
  • Responsible for all product marketing activities during the lifetime of the product including the implementation of the product launch plan, promotional and collateral support plan and sales support/infrastructure plan to drive the successful acquisition and retention of customers.
  • Organize, run and work with key user groups and important customer forums to develop customer relationships and influence market thinking.

Product Pricing Strategy

  • Define a comprehensive pricing strategy for the product(s).
  • Ensure that key players including sales teams, bid teams, support teams understand the pricing strategy and apply it.

Product Performance

  • Responsible for achieving product financial, customer satisfaction and business objectives. Ensure that stakeholders are fully engaged and committed to achieving these objectives.

Product Management Practice

  • Ensure collaborative creation and communication of product project plans with all relevant parties getting their strong commitment.
  • Contribute to the Product Management practice, working with Product Management peers to drive best practice across the business.
  • Act as mentor/coach to more junior members within the Product management community.

What we are looking for

Experience Required:

  • 3-7 years of similar and relevant commercial business experience
  • 2+ years demonstrating successful product incubation and launch
  • Understanding of market requirements particularly in the e-passport and DTC areas
  • Knowledge of policies, regulations and a variety of implementations of travel and tourism data provision to Governments and other official bodies
  • Familiarity with and ability to apply existing and emerging digital identity related standards and regulations, for example NIST, eIDAS, ICAO DTC, mDL, GDPR, PSD2, NIST , CSL, LGPD and tracking of those emerging in the future, for example EU Harmonised Rules on AI for future-proofing of solutions is essential.
  • Experience with designing, delivering and operating Government identity issuance, credentials, national identity schemes and security systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Product Management, Engineering/Technology Maturity, Business Approval and other solution development and approval methodologies
  • Confidence and strong presentation skills to be able to evangelise products and solutions to customers and audiences
  • Able to operate within and lead virtual teams
  • Degree level or equivalent in a technical, business or marketing discipline
  • Knowledge and experience working with digital identity systems creation, verification and authorization systems and standards would be desirable

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with relevant industry B2C, B2B and Government systems such as e-Government, E-commerce, reservation/ticketing, global distribution (GDS), departure control (DCS), automated border control or biometric access control across the public domain, the ATI or other travel, trade and related travel and tourism industries (for example, hotel, car hire, event management)

Candidates must be available to work from the office in Aldershot 3 days per week.
