Treasury Accountant

The Role

The role primarily covers foreign exchange management responsibilities such as Accounting for FX Currency Transactions, hedging currency exposures to mitigate risk, buying and selling currency to support working capital requirements, Fx Forecast reviews and supporting the Commercial teams through the bid to contract process (including some export-finance services around bonds & guarantees where required). Another key element of this role will be involvement in our process continuous improvement and automation initiatives, ensuring the team is always striving to deliver a stronger and more robust service to our stakeholders. Governance is paramount to this role and adherence to the Operation Framework, FPM and all relevant accounting standards is essential. The successful candidate will work as part of the Foreign Exchange Team to provide a first class service to all stakeholders. As such, they may be required to assist with the delivery of a range of treasury accounting activities. Tasks undertaken will vary from time to time to ensure the whole team experiences a broader range of activities and ERPs, at the same time ensuring that there is adequate cross-training within the team to deliver an excellent service provision and business continuity.

Main Responsibilities

Reviewing currency positions and trading currencies where required
Ensuring all FX Hedges are in line with forecasts and adjusting cover where required
Managing the FX rates that are used to for hedged and non-hedged transactions
Accruing for temporary differences on hedged transactions
Providing FX advice to stakeholders
Advising stakeholders on the issue of bonds & guarantees (including liaising with banks on their issue)
Balance sheet reconciliation support and advice on FX charges made to the Income Statement
Presenting DSUMs (Daily Stand-up Meetings) regularly to ensure that all tasks are covered off within the team and that all targets will be met.
KPI preparation
Identify areas for continuous improvement
Support process automation initiatives
Audit support (Internal/External)
Authorising payments and acting as a bank account signatory
Document record management
Stakeholder query resolution

Skills and Qualifications

Qualified Accountant (QBE will be considered if experience aligns with the role)
High degree of numeracy
Ability to operate in an evolving environment
Desire and ability to learn and develop new skills
Ability to work as part of a busy team
Ability to challenge
Intermediate to advanced level Excel skills
Attention to detail
Strong communication skills
Experience of adhering to strict deadlines
Experience with various Accounting Systems & ERPs (SAP/Oracle/LN etc)
