Contract - 6 months

Our client are currently seeking a Communications Lead to join their team. Undertaking a remote working role, contract will be for 6 months.

Background
CMB UK needs to be differentiated against competitors on two key fronts:
  • Large high street incumbents (Barclays, LBG, Natwest, etc.)
  • Emerging digital challengers/neobanks (Starling, Tide, Mettle, Monzo, etc.)

Digital challengers have delivered rapid growth, achieving ~15% market share and gaining significant traction within sole traders/startups and smaller SMEs with higher affinity for digital banking (eg Mettle from Natwest delivering 120% growth in customer acquisitions in H2 2020, Starling turning profitable and expecting to garner 15% of market share from ~5% last year).
Digital challengers are also rapidly innovating with digital Business Banking propositions (eg flexible subscriptions, Relationship Manager (RM) available as an add on etc.).
CMB UK must carefully craft its positioning to effectively compete against incumbents targeting the upper Business Banking and challengers attracting digitally native startups/sole traders.
To support the above, CMB UK must evolve into a customer centric digital SME Bank of the future by tailoring its end to end delivery model, policies and offerings to serve clusters of customer needs with differentiated digital SME Banking propositions.
There is an opportunity to significantly streamline the SME proposition, moving away from Legacy rules on segmentation, including turnover, that not only brings down the cost to serve on a sustainable basis but also creates growth opportunities and bandwidth for the RM managed population. In doing so, we will be creating a proposition that serves customers in the way that they want to be served, leveraging digital and enhancing it with insights driven, proactive contact.
