Description

Our client, a multinational information technology company, are currently seeking an experienced Java Application Architect to work on a contract basis. Initially the contract will be 3 months in duration and will allow for remote working.

Role Purpose:

This is a great opportunity for a Solution Architect to join a leading service provider to the global commercial insurance community, working on a roadmap of strategic change which will transform the IT Landscape moving towards modern digital interfaces, Microservice architecture, API enabled systems, automation, platform as a service and agile devops process.

As a solution architect, you will be responsible for understanding business requirements, business process models, data models and non-functional requirements in order to produce high quality Enterprise and Solution Architecture artefacts, defining best practice, microservice oriented and innovative solution designs that will key to delivering the portfolio.

Facing off to Program Manager and Lead Architect, you will work with Business Analysis, Business SMEs and senior stakeholders and partners as well as technical SMEs across a range of disciplines, to specify solution designs and to follow those design through to delivery, descending to an appropriate level of detail where required, and delivering the key artefacts are required to communicate the solution and to support and manage that delivery.

Responsibilities as the Solution Architect:

  • Red Hat process automation manager
  • Red Hat decision manager
  • Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) and Decision Model and Notation (DMN)
  • Event processing and case management
  • Experience in AWS, Microservice, Cloud, CICD
  • Owning the technical design for the project is a key responsibility. The SA will need to take responsibility for this and not just work on it. They will also need to be able to present it and get buy in for it from customers and stakeholders so good communication skills are a must.
  • Conducting detailed analysis of business processes, functional requirements, and scenarios to produce high quality Solution Designs that meet the business requirements
  • Identify applicable technologies and partner technology products to ensure that the appropriate balance of buy vs build is maintained
  • Work with vendors and 3rd party providers to ensure that the architecture is delivered to the business requirements and as part of a holistic solution
  • Identify architectural patterns, and apply industry standard best practice to deliver high quality, robust and flexible designs
  • Understand failure scenarios an design for Fault Tolerance from the outset
  • Understand and contribute to the delivery of high quality Non-functional requirements
  • Design solutions to meet non-functional requirements, ensuring that performance, scalability, resilience and service availability are designed in from the outset.
  • Ensure that solution designs meet operate requirements for monitoring, management and on-going maintenance in an agile, continuous delivery environment
  • Assist Project and Release managers in translating business requirements relating to Project business case into product requirements that are delivered aligned to an agile, continuous delivery approach. Identifying dependency and helping to decouple releases where possible to reduce complexity in the release process through the RTL
  • Working with Technical Architects, Technical BAs, Data Architects, Integration Architects to deliver robust and flexible API contract specifications aligned to and contributing to open industry standards
  • Conduct detailed analysis of existing systems, processes and integrations to ensure that target state solutions can be successfully integrated into the existing landscape.
  • Deliver complex transition and migration architectures to ensure that the target state architecture can be delivered into production with minimal risk to the enterprise
  • Work with security Architects to deliver secure application and integration architectures, applying industry standard best practice and meeting, and providing traceability to security, regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Engage in and contribute to governance process including Technical Design Authority, Service and Integration governance and data governance
  • Working with technical architects across a range of disciplines to help them deliver detailed design in an agile framework and ensure that that architecture design is delivered as approved by its stakeholder community.

Skills and Experience as the Solution Architect:

  • Experience in defining high quality Solution Architecture designs, and gaining approval for such designs in a complex stakeholder environment
  • Experience of stakeholder management including senior stakeholders, 3rd party partners and standards organisations
  • Experience of working with industry standard data models and extending those models to support business requirements
  • Experience of working in an Insurance business domain or in another relevant Banking and Finance domain
  • Designing bespoke apps dev solution (differentiating from off-the-shelf-type solutions).
  • Experience with a wide variety of technical domains from green field microservice architectures, to workflow management systems integration tooling and Mainframe
  • Experience of Logical Physical data mapping and of large scale transformation projects moving from complex Legacy system domains to modern digital applications
  • Experience of defining transition plans and roadmaps for complex and large scale transformation programs
  • Experience of Agile delivery, and continuous delivery environments
  • Experience of applying application and integration security policies, as well as regulatory and compliance policy and providing traceability to requirements to evidence
  • Experience of defining and implementing architecture governance processes in an agile environment
  • Experience of working with external standards organisations
  • Degree educated
  • TOGAF Certified
