Description

We are IT Recruitment Specialists partnered with a prestigious Global Consultancy who required a Digital Architect - Salisbury 1-2 days a week and WFH for one of their public sector clients based in the UK.

  • IR35: This role is inside of IR35
  • Initial duration: 6 months
  • Clearance required: Must be SC cleared must UK sole National

Role and tasks

Minimum Requirement:

As a Digital Architect, you will be responsible for ensuring design governance across digital estate. You will work to influence and contribute to digital strategy and direction. You will provide corporate governance and technical advice to digital programmes, projects, and services to ensure that strategy, policy and design principles are adhered to whilst taking into account customer requirements to provide advice and direction. There is a requirement to maintain and develop design principles, policy, and standards, authoring sub-strategy and related documentation. You will maintain and develop good working relationships between the Architects' team and the relevant internal and external key stakeholders.

In this role you will:

Be responsible for ensuring design governance across digital estate.

Work to influence and contribute to digital strategy and direction.

Provide corporate governance and technical advice to digital programmes, projects and services to ensure that strategy, policy and design principles are adhered to whilst taking into account customer requirements to provide advice and direction.

Maintain and develop design principles, policy and standards, authoring sub-strategy and related documentation.

Listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders and interpret them to make decisions based on risk and complexity.

Turn business problems into technical design.

Design systems characterised by medium levels of risk, impact and business or technical complexity. Works across multiple services or a single large or complicated service.

Skills/Experience

Essential

Bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical. You can mediate between people and mend relationships, communicating with stakeholders at all levels.

Governance. You can evolve and define governance and take responsibility for collaborating and supporting services in wider governance. You know how to assure services delivered by technical architects across sets of services.

Making and guiding decisions. You can make decisions characterised by medium levels of risk and complexity and recommend decisions as risk and complexity increase. You can build consensus between services or independent stakeholders.

Strategy. You can define and challenge strategies, patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps, and vision statements. You can provide proactive advice and guidance for their definition across the organisation.

Turning business problems into technical design. You can design systems characterised by high levels of risk, impact and business or technical complexity.

Understanding the whole context. You can understand trends and practices within the broader organisation and how these will impact on your work. You can look for deeper underlying problems and opportunities and anticipate problems before they occur. You can identify the impact of changes to policy.

Comprehensive knowledge of application and systems architectures.

Familiarity with enterprise architecture methodologies, tools, and techniques.

Technical leadership, influence, and people management skills.

Good communication and information sharing skills with an ability to translate complex technical matters to a simple business-related view.

A good problem solver with experience of constructively challenging proposed approaches and solutions, considering wider opportunities, impacts and longer-term strategy.

A familiarity with writing and reviewing technical documentation within an architectural context.

Hands on experience of working as an Applications, Technical, Solution or Enterprise Architect.

Experience of working with and writing architectural strategy, policies, and processes.

Experience of working within a similar governance and/or assurance role.

Experience of writing and reviewing technical design documentation.

Desirable

Experience of operating in a similar role in wider industry; public sector

Working with a strategic outsource partner in a context applicable to the offered role.

Knowledge of working to the requirements for secure computing regarding policies and best practice (JSP44,0, SPF, GPG etc.) and their application within a secure environment.

Working within ITIL (operations), TOGAF (Architecture), and PRINCE2 (projects) frameworks.
