Repowering London - Rooftop Solar Manager

Role outline

Contract: Full-time role 5 days a week, 1 -year fixed term contract. Probation period of 3 months.
Salary: Project Manager grade £32k.
Location: Mixed - Working from home optional, with some site visits and meetings at Repowering London s office in Brixton. Support will be provided for remote/home working if you need it.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic person with experience of business development and project management to support the development of new community owned solar projects across London, tackling climate change and supporting a move towards a more inclusive and sustainable future.

As Rooftop Solar Manager, you will be working with building owners and operators across London to identify potential sites, coordinate with building managers and owners, and complete feasibility studies for new solar PV installations.

We are looking for a detail orientated candidate who is motivated and excited about creating positive change, building stronger communities, and tackling the climate emergency.

Person specification

The right candidate will have a level of project management and technical experience, with the ability to talk positively about Repowering London s mission and community energy in general. You will be comfortable joining a collaborative team and managing a number of contractors to deliver our projects. Your role will include building relationships with a range of partners, from the Mayor of London s office to individual site managers, providing a level of reassurance and managing expectations.

For this role, we will be looking for and assessing candidates on the following:

• Project management experience
• Business to business sales experience
• Background knowledge in solar PV
• Online communication skills i.e. email
• In person communication skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
• Interest in community engagement and renewable energy
• Capacity to self-reflect on performance, proactively problem-solve and welcome feedback on performance

The following are not essential for the role but would be good to have:

• Experience of rooftop solar PV installations
• Experience of managing contractors
• Experience of undertaking solar PV feasibility studies
• Understanding of building energy services and contracts

Your role as our Rooftop Solar Manager

As our Rooftop Solar Manager, you will be the propulsive energy behind the first stage of our solar projects. This means you will need to be an effective and tenacious communicator as you liaise with a range of partners and contractors, with the confidence to explain the financial model of our projects and the benefits to each project s stakeholders. You will work with Repowering London s Rooftop Solar and Technical teams, keeping everyone updated on progress and flagging problems that need to be resolved. Working with the Programme Manager and Communications Officer, you will develop materials to communicate Repowering London s proposition to different types of property owner. If appropriate you will also generate leads to create new community owned solar projects.

This role is suitable for someone who requires flexible hours.

Your role and responsibilities will include:

• Identifying potential sites
• Pitching Repowering s rooftop solar offer to landlords and building managers
• Managing Repowering London s project tracking software
• Arranging contractor site visits and invoices
• Collating reports and undertaking analysis using Repowering London s feasibility tools
• Using Repowering London s templates to create reports
