Senior Contracts Manager - Band 8b

I am currently working with a highly ambitious & well respected NHS CCG who are looking for an interim Senior Contracts Manager to join their high performing contracts team on an initial 3 month contract.

The organisation are unique in that they are looking to move away from contacting as a back office function & bring their processes & expertise to the forefront of the mechanics of the organisation. The Senior Contracts Manager will be a huge factor in driving that change.

The Senior Contracts Manager will be expected to manage high value, multi million pound contracts. The portfolio includes a mixture of Mental Health & Community contracts & an individual with real gravitas is required.

With it being well into the negotiation cycle, I am looking for candidates who have a background in NHS contract management & have experience of managing multiple contracts on a day to day basis.

Reporting into the Director of Contracts the duties of the Senior Contracts Manager will be:
  • Managing the main Mental Health contracts portfolio on a daily basis, there will also be smaller community contracts to manage
  • Ensuring KPI's are logged & to a high standard
  • Making sure providers are held accountable if they are not performing
  • Organising internal & external meetings with board members & partners
  • Liaising with the Performance, Information & Finance teams on all aspects of contracting
  • Advising junior members of the team on the NHS Standard Contract function


Requirements for the Senior Contracts Manager:
  • NHS Contract management experience is essential
  • Experience of negotiating contracts will be ideal
  • Mental Health contracts experience would be useful although not essential
  • Proven background in implementing change
  • High level stakeholder engagement skills
  • Influencing skills
  • Background in line management would be useful
