Interim IT Category Manager, Cambridge, 6 month contract, £250-£350/day
My client, a global engineering company, is undertaking a full review of its procurement function as a result is looking to recruit an Interim IT Category Manager on a 6 month contract. The IT Category Manager will be responsible for developing a category strategy for IT and Communications which delivers on key aspects of Cost, Service and Capability.
Responsibilities
- Develop IT procurement category plan in response to business needs to span across the entire organisation (multi-site)
- Become the global procurement lead on IT category to drive global leverage. This includes leveraging global supply capability for worldwide consumption and localising purchased components and services for each site
- Develop category plans to achieve material cost reduction targets of the organisation
- Lead on key RFP activities to deliver IT objectives
- Work closely with IT commercial and operations leaders, Project Management Teams and local offices to achieve operational objectives - cost, service and capability for IT operations
- Apply world-class sourcing processes - supplier evaluation, selection and performance reporting, contract negotiation, price inflation management, metrics deployment etc
- Align strategic sourcing and product engineering efforts for supplier qualification, new product development and value analysis/value engineering opportunities
- In-country lead in mediation and problem resolution relating to suppliers, time lines, and contracts/agreement interpretation
- Senior Member of the Central Procurement Team
Person Specification
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in strategic procurement operations, preferably in multi-site organisations
- Track record of delivery in this type of role in cross-cultural, cross-functional environments
- Background in IT procurement roles
- Experience of change management and business process improvement
- High level analytical, verbal and written presentation skills
- To have worked in engineering-led sectors. Industry type not important, but must have worked in both high volume, low variety and low volume high variety operations
- Strong proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Sound communication skills are required when dealing with suppliers and internal customers
- Advanced level user in Microsoft Access and Excel
- Knowledge and use of eProcurement and e-Sourcing methodology
- MCIPS, ISM or equivalent
