My client, a leading automotive manufacturer based in Whitley, West Midlands, is looking to recruit a Engine Management Project Engineer for their Powertrain division on a long term contract basis.

Position: Engine Management Project Engineer
Position Description:
Reporting to the Group Leader - Powertrain Calibration and Controls Project Management the role involves being the single point of contact and having lead responsibility for the engine calibration and controls elements of one of the platforms in the delivery phase upto J1 days. The successful applicant will act as the single point of contact for delivery related issues into and out from the calibration and controls teams and facilitate communications from the delivery group leaders into the Plant, New model programmes and Vehicle Engineering. The role also involves the rationalisation of issues across Diesel and Gas teams ensuring that the teams are actively engaged on their resolution. Another aspect of the role is the management and reporting of key delivery metrics for the relevant programme ensuring that these are accurately communicated to the teams and fed into the relevant senior manager and Programme review meetings. In this role you will have a close liaison with other powertrain departments, interfacing COC's, programme and vehicle teams.
Skills Required:
Excellent communication and presentation skillls with the ability to confidently communicate technical information at all levels. An understanding of the principles and operation of Diesel and Gasoline engines and Engine management systems including and understanding of relevant emissions legislation. Able to demonstrate proven capability in Leadership skills. Proven ability to Project Manage interactions across systems and within a multi site team. Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a mechanical or related discipline A motivated self-starter capable of taking decisions at a high level, which are in the best interests of the business and customer.
Skills Preferred:
A pro-active approach to adoption of new technologies and standards and changing working practices. Previous Team Leadership. Knowledge and use of Problem solving tools (Six sigma, 8D, DMAIC).
Experience Required:
Automotive or Engineering work experience working in technical departments and reporting to Senior management. Proven Project management skills with the ability to project manage across teams and projects.
Education Required:
UK Degree, HND or equivalent in a mechanical or related discipline.
