Title: Senior Software Engineer (Java Full Stack)
Location: Galway
Duration: Contract
Rate: Negotiable
This multinational institution is one of the largest financial services groups worldwide and the technology projects they are working on at the moment are cutting edge and require someone with an innovative approach who likes working in a collaborative environment.
The Contract Senior Software Engineer will work with a team of Software Engineers across the globe to develop high quality applications servicing the financial trading industry. The successful candidate will be involved in the full SDLC, from requirements gathering through to production deployment.
The primary technologies will be HTML5, CSS, JavaScript frameworks (Angular, Backbone, Node), JSON APIs, Java, Web Services (JSON, XML, REST, SOAP), Spring, Unix Scripting (Python, Shell).
Responsibilities:
*Work with cross functional team to understand project objectives, use cases and systems design requirements.
*Develop original and creative technical solutions.
*Work independently on delivering complex technical features.
*May determine and develop approaches to solutions.
*Report status, identify issues/risks proactively, and provide alternative plans for recovery.
*Communicate effectively in a team oriented environment.
*Mentoring of junior team members.
*Help to define development standards for team.
Qualifications:
*BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
*Minimum 5 years of application design & development experience in Java, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript frameworks, web services and Spring
*Experience working with distributed teams
*Experience of agile development
Requirements:
*Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at a given time.
*Excellent Communication, written and oral skills
*Team player
*Able to act independently under general direction.
*Ability to mentor other members of the team
*Collaborative in your approach, actively contributing to how work gets completed
*Familiarity with relational databases and some Scripting language (Ruby, python, Shell, etc.) is an advantage
