My client, a globally recognised, leading Financial Services organisation has a number of urgent opportunities for skilled Credit Risk Analysts of various levels to join on a contract basis.

Competitive day rate, 6 month contracts initially with genuine scope to renew.

These roles sit within Credit Risk and are responsible for assisting in reviewing credit risk strategies impacting all credit portfolios, and for the analytical work required to compliment this.

Key skills required:

  • Mortgage background within banking
  • Credit Risk portfolio experience
  • SAS/SQL Experience is essential

Background:

Credit Risk function is responsible for undertaking a leadership role with business areas to provide forward looking, value adding capability to achieve a robust risk management culture, which includes maintaining an effective Credit Risk management framework that enables early identification, assessment, management, monitoring and reporting of credit risks to the Head of Retail Credit Risk.

This post reports into the Portfolio Strategy Manager and includes a portfolio of approximately 930K million customers with approximately £115 billion in Personal balances. Working with key stakeholders, the primary focus of the role is to develop credit strategies alongside delivering portfolio strategy development.

The role is responsible for assisting in reviewing credit risk strategies impacting all credit portfolios, and for the analytical work required to compliment this. The role will have project management and coaching elements alongside reviewing and writing of papers (post analysis) for senior management review.

Core duties:

  • To develop, implement and maintain the Credit portfolio risk strategies for new business and customer management.
  • In particular the development of an effective framework for evaluating the current and future portfolio strategies as well as the optimal size and characteristics of the UK PBB good and bad book, including the management of the growing mortgage book through the economic cycle.
  • To identify and action key measures for optimisation, to drive changes to credit risk strategies and consequently, to drive loss rate optimisation of high risk segments, the elimination of toxic cells, whilst maximising returns within risk appetite limits
  • To critically evaluate the current and future credit risk of the portfolio, in the context of our peers, including risk profile, impairments and Risk Weighted Assets and to deliver ongoing portfolio management activity by driving the corrective actions required to limit our exposure to emerging risks.
  • To operate a culture of 'no surprises'
  • To provide in a timely manner, efficient and effective insight into the portfolio performance, including stress tests where appropriate, via a combination of regular reporting, ad hoc analysis and stakeholder briefings
  • Provide expert support and advice to the business on the management of the risks which are overseen or controlled. This includes interpreting and complying with the relevant risk policy standards and the risk management framework.
  • Conduct suitable assurance to ensure 1st line compliance with policies/responsibilities. Provide Senior Executive with relevant management information and reports and escalate concerns where appropriate.
  • Responsible for the provision of insightful and timely briefings to assist senior management in understanding the impact on the retail portfolios of key credit risks.
  • Provide effective challenge of PBB in how they set and manage their level of credit risk appetite for the PBB personal portfolio, in the context of the wider bank risk appetite framework
