Systems Engineer - Contract - DOORS, UML, Aviation/Aerospace

We have a brand new opportunity for an SC Cleared Systems Engineer based in Hampshire!

This role is for a Systems Engineer (SE) to encompass the whole programme life cycle, from requirements generation and derivation, to all aspects of integration, sell-off and support. This includes performing technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

The SE will ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. They will perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. The SE will manage design baselines, track problems and lead them to resolution with both the customer and supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Requirements derivation and linking
  • System requirements and development of stakeholder agreed verification/sell-off approach
  • Trade studies
  • System design and interface documentation
  • Development and presentation of design review material
  • Definition of system demonstration and testing
  • Support to flight clearance
  • Support to integration and test, including data analysis and problem solving
  • Systems Integration with Airborne Platforms
  • Liaison with customer and supplier stakeholders, including in-house specialists as required

Additional/Occasional Duties and Tasks the successful candidate may be required to participate in technical reviews of adjacent Programmes in the role of reviewer.

Required Skills:

As a minimum the Individual should be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Airborne Platforms experience
  • Analytical: ability to analyse technical problems and provide pragmatic solutions.
  • Negotiation: ability to resolve Customer issues in an effective productive manner.
  • Leadership: ability to draw together a team and motivate to achieve team goals and technical solutions.
  • Communication: ability to produce and present convincing presentations, design documents and proposal to Customer and Supplier.
  • Decision-making: ability to make rapid decisions.
  • Interpersonal: ability to work with and lead a team of people, good listening and debating skills.
  • Technical innovation: ability to achieve solutions innovatively.
  • Experience in working with US sourced dual use and munitions listed products the latter being governed under the International Traffic In Arms Regulations aka ITAR and that may have export licensing constraints or re-export controls imposed on them by virtue of their US classification and licensing restrictions.

Experience in:

  • DOORS
  • UML
  • Knowledge of Project Management tools and techniques

The candidate should be familiar with generation of reports and undertaking analysis using typical office environment tools such as the Microsoft Office® Suite of Products namely Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.
