Currently recruiting for a Web Ops Specialist to join a client based in Blackpool on an initial 6 month role.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for handing over the technical knowledge of releases to Ops management to enable successful live running.
  • Build and configure new server platforms and the automated tooling to do so
  • Manage the operation of Linux Servers and delivery of complex web application stacks
  • Test, debug and troubleshoot platform level problems
Essential Skills
  • Proven track record of working with Cloud computing (EC2, Google App Engine, etc); networking concepts, technologies, and protocols (TCP/IP, IPSec, HTTP, FTP, DHCP, and DNS); and virtualization systems (VMWare, Xen, etc)
  • Proven track record of configuring and managing dynamic web and application Servers
  • An excellent understanding of Linux and experience in configuring and managing Linux Servers for serving a dynamic websites
  • Strong knowledge of understanding of common web application architectures
  • Track record of debugging complex multi-server services
  • Track record of Scripting or basic programming skills
  • Strong knowledge with network protocols - TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, etc.
  • A strong technical foundation in build, release and test environments
  • Proven track record of designing and supporting robust build, deployment and configuration management systems for multi-tier Java J2EE & .NET applications
  • Track record in utilising continuous integration tools (Jenkins, Travis-CI, Go)
  • Track record of administering application Servers, servlet containers, and web Servers (WebSphere, Apache Tomcat, Jetty, Nginx, Mongrel, Microsoft IIS, Apache HTTP server, etc.)
  • Experience of collaborative working in an agile development environment.
