To help us drive our success into the future, we are looking for a 2nd line Support Analyst to join our Commodities Trading Support team at our London offices.

Job Purpose

This BSD (Business, Support & Development) role will focus on day-to-day support, development and testing of our in-house Physical Inventory Management and Cash Accounting Management systems, batch, market data, static data configuration and general problem resolution of the Commodities systems.

Candidate will have to respond to queries and issues from the various business users, as well as operational issues with downstream systems IT representatives.

Primary focus of the role will be on initiating a systematic review of the these applications, identifying root cause of the most common day to day support issues with a view to fixing these in the most expedient and appropriate manner

Out-of-hours support may be required, although we have a support function in South Africa, which currently perform the bulk of out of hours support

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Commodities BSD support and development out of London, for global regions
  • Problem investigation and resolution, ensuring all queries and issues are logged, assigned and progressed in a timely manner.
  • Pro-actively responding to the demands, challenges of Business and other IT Departments, prioritizing those solutions/demands and managing expectations of users/customers.
  • Ensure the robustness of systems and procedures within Commodities Technology.
  • Provide analysis and design for solutions to problems raised, following development standards and best practices. Identifying and communicating issues and risks to manager as appropriate in a timely manner.
  • Share knowledge and participate as a team member within Commodities Technology team.
  • Participate in Functional and User Acceptance Testing for projects in the Bank that impact Commodities Technology.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • A science/computer science/engineering/mathematics degree

Experience required to successfully perform the role:

  • Experience of working in a regulated environment, ideally Financial Services

Knowledge, technical skills and expertise

  • Business knowledge
  • Understanding of FCA rules and regulations or equivalent
  • Understanding of risk and control
  • Banking knowledge
  • Knowledge of emerging markets
  • IT skills - Required - .NET 4.0 c#, Asp.NET, DevExpress, SQL Server, SilverLight(Nice to have)
  • Previous Front Office/Operations IT experience preferred but not essential as on the job' training will be given.
