Description

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Performing all programming, development, integration and system administration assignments without close supervision.
  • Providing project management, programming, systems and/or system administration leadership, guidance, and assistance to other team members.
  • Working on more complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.
  • Working independently on complex processes and modules that may be used by one or more programs, systems or in support if infrastructure component change management.
  • Developing major system modules, programs or infrastructure releases based on requirements gathered from system customers.
  • Performing integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of system components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results.
  • Fully knowledgeable of current programming languages, program design and specification development, programming logic, logic diagrams, system analysis techniques, testing, debugging, documentation standards, file design, storage and internal systems.
  • Performing integration tasks for in-house developed systems and/or purchased hardware and software solutions.
  • Assisting customers with documentation, training and usability efforts.
  • System Administrator (SA) Environment: Linux, Unix, VMWare As a server administrator, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Provide system administration, security compliance, and secure configuration of assigned IBM AIX, RedHat Linux Servers, and VMWare ESX Servers
  • Provide Level III support and problem resolution
  • Perform OS system software standards review and enforcement
  • Deploy/Install fixes or updates as needed
  • Develop and publish relevant operating procedures
  • Consult with other SA's and functional team members providing information and direction to address customer issues
  • Develop and implement resolutions to identified problems, and follows standard practices and procedures.
  • Build, test, and maintain Linux Servers that meet business requirements and platform standards
  • Build, test, and maintain Linux based hardware and software infrastructure components
  • Document all policies, procedures and standards around the build and continuing operation of Linux systems
  • Assist and/or train Server Administrators as needed
  • Ensure that infrastructure systems are designed, implemented, and supported to meet company's internal and external standards
  • Solve problems related to installation, implementation, maintenance, and operations of Linux and Unix hardware and software, and related infrastructure components
  • Provide monitoring, coaching, and knowledge transfer to less experienced employees
  • Follow the ITIL standard for all Change Requests, Incidents, and Requests for Service, as documented by company's internal change controls
  • Will be expected to develop and participate in solutions based Converged Infrastructure training and problem resolution skills development.
  • Provide problem determination and resolution for customer issues.
  • May need to engage or escalate to more senior resources or to parent companies (Cisco, EMC, VMware, NetApp, IBM) to resolve more complex issues.
  • Accept escalated requests from other technical team members as the subject matter expert.
  • Identifies and provides resolutions to a diverse range of complex technical problems.
  • Identify and document with management to proactively revise current procedures and tools to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Develops broad knowledge of the organizations and relates it to day-to-day issues.

  • Not a help desk position, will do more than work tickets all day. More like a level 2 help desk, more involved with team work.
SKILLS:

Skills Required:
  • 5+ years of Linux/Unix systems administration experience in a 24x7 environment
  • 4+ years of recent experience with VMware 5.x administration (ESXi, vSphere, vCenter)
  • 4+ years of recent experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 5.x/6.x)
  • Ability to provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain systems including the following operating systems: RHEL, AIX, Jumpstart/Kickstart server configuration and maintenance, Shell Scripting (bash, AWK, SED, Perl, ruby)
  • Deep Linux systems experience including diagnosing performance problems related to network issues, and memory/CPU utilization
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Required Qualifications:
  • A 4-year college or university degree and a minimum of 4 years exempt experience in information services.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply data processing philosophies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of procedures and operations of the functional business areas.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply complex programming languages and other advanced development tools used by FPD.
  • Ability to identify systems deficiencies and recommend and develop new software/programs to correct the deficiencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer operations systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer software and how to implement such software.
  • Ability to train and advise employees on the use of computers and software packages.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve mechanical/technical problems with emphasis on troubleshooting. Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lead project development teams.
  • Ability to identify and correct systems and program problems in a timely manner. Ability to reinforce high quality standards driven by company objectives.
  • Ability to create and maintain an environment conducive to collaboration across corporate business units and service divisions.
  • Ability to listen to others and communicate effectively.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the finance industry and experience in project leadership is desired.
  • Experience managing Servers in large corporate environments, including security, security policy compliance, and exception processes
  • Configuration management experience.
  • Puppet is preferred
  • AIX 7.x preferred
