Description

Our client, located in San Antonio, TX, is seeking a MS SQL DBA to support their database administration team. Candidates need to have either active or recently active DoD Security Clearance or Automated Data Processing II Public Trust Adjudication.

Requirements

  • Performing all database-related activities during application system evaluations, development projects, and system implementations
  • Supporting application development staff in understanding application data requirements and developing logical database models
  • Converting logical database designs to physical database models and developing the Data Definition Language (DDL) necessary to create appropriate database objects
  • Reviewing, testing, and making appropriate revisions to vendor-supplied DDLs to ensure database integrity
  • Designing and implementing appropriate database backup and recovery strategies based on requirements provided by application development staff and documented in DoD Strategic Implementation Guide (STIG) guidelines
  • Providing on-call support to troubleshoot and resolve database problems on 24 hours per day, 7 days per week basis and perform database recovery and restoration as needed
  • Providing consulting to application development staff on efficient SQL coding techniques for optimum database and application performance
  • Performing upgrades to DBMS and "Middleware products", which include impact analysis, testing, data conversion and implementation
  • Enforcing database standards and procedures for standard DBMS products currently in use
  • Maintaining sufficient knowledge of Windows operating systems necessary to perform the DBA function
  • Maintaining adequate knowledge of relevant business processes and systems

Basic Required Skills:

  • Database Administration Experience
  • Microsoft SQL Server expertise (SQL 2005 or higher)
  • Data and information management
  • Backup, Recovery, and Storage
  • Active or recently active (within 1 year) DoD security clearance or Advanced Data Processing (ADPII) adjudication

Desired Skills:

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II (Security+, GSEC, or SSCP) or CCNA-Security required prior to start.
  • Experience with Commvault Simpana v9 or higher
  • 3rd party backup solution and/or native MS OS backup strategies with 2008 R2 or higher
  • Windows 2003, Windows Server 2008R2, Windows Server 2012, MS Clustering Services, MS Powershell
