Software engineer needed with strong background in applied mathematics
Our client is looking for an engineer with a strong level in applied mathematics and software engineering, within their department specialized in Applied Mathematics, Data Science and ICT for example, a civil engineer in applied mathematics with a strong level in software engineering (or reversely).
Mission:
- Applied mathematics in a broad sense, with a focus on data science (including data processing and statistics, not necessarily big data), algorithmic, numerical computing. Applied mathematics requiring today a strong level in software development, we are looking for an engineer in applied math with a strong level in software development (or reversely).
- Problem analysis and formal definition, very close to the business,
- Technical design and architecture,
- Development,
- Long-term solution life cycle and project management
Competences in mathematics: at least strong background knowledge in some of the following fields, from most important to least important:
- Data Processing, Machine learning, Forecasting
- Statistics, Measurement theory
- Signal Processing
- Optimization
- Linear algebra
- Graph theory
Competences in software development: knowledge and experience in
- Programming Languages (for example, Python, NumPy, .NET, C/C++)
- Numerical Computing
- Algorithmic
- Design Patterns
Priorities: - Passion for math, complex conceptual reasoning, rigor
- Efficiency in programming; code quality (clarity, correctness, comments); code reusability
- Collaboration and communication with colleagues.
- Working knowledge of Dutch or French
