The Role
An opportunity exists within the Hybrid and Electronic Systems team for a Principal Engineer - Autonomous and Advanced Vehicle Systems to lead the development and integration of autonomous and advanced vehicle systems in client projects.
Job Duties:
To lead technical teams and deliver client projects:
- Provide technical leadership for teams of engineers involved in controls and electronic projects for autonomous and advanced vehicle systems
- Drive the development of controls, software and electronics capability in autonomous and advanced vehicle systems working with other Ricardo specialist teams
- Interface directly with clients on technical issues
- Support of the Sales Teams in the development of market opportunities through client interaction, proposal support and roadmap development
- Promotion of capability throughout Ricardo's global customer base
- Drive the development of future products and services
- Prepare and present technical papers
Required Qualifications and Experience:
You are an experienced engineer with a minimum of 5 years' experience with a relevant development background now seeking your next move into a challenging environment that will broaden your experience and reward you with opportunities to develop leading technologies for global market needs.
Your degree qualification will be in an engineering or science related discipline and you will be expected to be familiar with the following:
- Experience of systems for autonomous transport and advanced vehicle systems (e.g. platooning, autonomous vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems, connected vehicle systems, driver assistance systems, ehorizon, experience of relevant sensor technologies, sensor fusion)
- Background in one or more of electronic, control and software engineering
- Good interpersonal and customer facing skills
- An active interest in new technology and system developments in transportation
- Experience in software development for vehicle systems and extensive experience in the application of these systems in production projects
- Experience in requirements capture and system design
Knowledge in one or more of the following additional areas is also beneficial:
- Automotive industry background
- Knowledge of functional safety and systems engineering
- Experience of developing productions from concept to production
- Experience with model-based development languages such as Matlab/Simulink
