MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER/SC CLEARED/SOLIDWORKS/THERMAL MODELLING/VERSION CONTROL/SUB-SYSTEM/DEFSTAN/5 MONTHS/IMMEDIATE START/DORSET

Rate: £40-45 per Hour
Location: Dorset
Duration: 5 Months (initially)

My client is internationally renowned and specialise in the design, development and delivery of information assurance and cyber security solutions for government and corporate applications which hold prestigious accreditations worldwide.

Main Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Engineer will be required to elicit requirements, provide conceptual high level design solutions, carry out detailed component design and implement using Solidworks CAD package. You will work within a multi-disciplined team comprising systems, software, and hardware and test capabilities.

You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy but direction and mentoring will be available from more experienced engineers if necessary. Where required you will assist planning and scoping of work to support bid type activities.

Typical activities will include design of electro-mechanical packaging, machined enclosures, sheet metal, PCB profiles, manufacturing tooling jigs, injection moulding and antenna assemblies.

Key Skills
*Full development life cycle experience
*Ability to derive mechanical requirements from system/sub-system requirements
*Mechanical design of enclosures
*Generation of component and assembly drawings
*Working knowledge of Solidworks 3D CAD tool
*Working knowledge of materials and physical properties
*Appreciation of mechanical manufacturing processes, such as machining, sheet metal and moulding
*Appreciation of manufacturing techniques for both high and low volume
*Actively participate in the procurement of mechanical items for prototypes & initial production runs
*Configuration management and version control
*Maintain a current technical knowledge of industry best practise
*Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral
*Be able to multi-task and work to deadlines

*Design for security
*Thermal Modelling
*Familiar with MIL Standards and DEFSTAN
*DOORs for requirements capture/management
*Design for severe and harsh environments
*HNC/Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent
