IT Director, CIO, Interim, Mobile, Telecoms, Africa, Infrastructure
We seek a seasoned Interim IT Director with strong telecoms experience in emerging markets to set up the IT infrastructure for new, green-field mobile telecoms operations in Zambia and Cameroon.
This role will carry responsibility for designing the IT infrastructure/architecture based on the required scope and scale of the country operations in each location, then overseeing its successful implementation. Once a functional IT capability is in place, the Interim IT DIrector will assist in recruiting permanent staff and managing the hand-over.
For this position, we are seeking a proven Interim IT Director with previous experience in the mobile telecoms industry in emerging markets - ideally Africa, but experience in Asia, Central/South America is also relevant. The key point is that they have first-hand experience of operating within countries which lack 'Western' structure and culture and that they are thoroughly familiar with the challenges of setting up new IT operations from scratch within these emerging economies.
The chosen candidate will be quite happy working with a minimum of supervision and support, having developed a high degree of self-reliance and self-direction from their previous interim assignments. At the same time, he will have the strong stakeholder and vendor management skills required to succeed in this environment. He will naturally have the technical skills required to design, purchase and build the required IT infrastructure.
This is definitely a job for an experienced Interim IT Director who has previous experience of similar challenges, who knows what to expect and enjoys building start-up operations in emerging markets.
