MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY DELIVERABLES: - Define the end to end designs for WiFi & Small Cells and its evolution to meet changing client, customer (end user) and business demands. 
- Define and Maintain the technical architecture for WiFi & Small Cells
- Develop solutions to customer requirements and advanced technical problems
- Provide technical consultancy across a broad technology spectrum
- Responsible for design changes, providing advice and assurance throughout projects and providing oversight to technical solutions against architectural blue prints.
- Develop solutions Support of Sales and Technical Services to fulfil the requirements of the role, including but not limited to:
o Attend to projects and see them through to completion
o Prepare and conduct customer and partner workshops
o Compile customer documentation
o Present technical solutions to customers
o Develop the internal knowledgebase and contribute to the WIFI services community
- Collaborate defining the technical roadmap for WIFI architecture
- Collaborate defining WIFI models to be followed by the technical teams and sales
- Actively seek opportunities to re-use developments produced by other parts of the company and to promote re-use of developments within WiFi & Small Cells by other parts of the company.
- Define and Maintain the technical architecture for WiFi & Small Cells, including:
o Propose additions to WIFI technical roadmap
o Explanation and documentation of the current solution architecture (including WLAN, backhaul, central network & core connectivity, central systems and MIS facilities),
o Maintenance of a roadmap for changes & enhancements to this solution architecture.
- Document and analyse the various demands which may require changes to or evolution of this solution architecture, to meet:
o New requirements from major clients in existing market areas
o Requirements to support new market areas
o Business requirements to deliver additional sources of revenues
o Business requirement to improve the efficiency of operational activities or development activities.
- Provide technical support for sales to major clients, including:
o Creation of solution and technical sales material (slides & documents) for major clients, including MNOs and Broadband Service Providers.
o Producing & coordinating technical responses for bids to major clients.
- Actively seek opportunities to re-use developments produced by other parts of the company and to promote re-use of developments within WiFi & Small Cells by other parts of the company.
The key measures of success for this role are:
- Technical success in winning business from major clients
- Maintaining a clear and common understanding of the solution to be delivered for each major client (across both development & operational teams)
- The role will work closely with the various teams across the division, including Sales, Operational and Technical Solutions teams.
- The role will need to establish and maintain working relationships with key technical staff covering other divisions within the company.
- Promote an effective Safety, Health and Environment culture, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment within area of operation
- Maintain a secure working environment in line with ISO270001, and the requirements of the Arqiva Information Security Management System in order to protect individuals, information and Arqiva assets
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCE FOR ROLE:
- Technical. Strong technical capability in WIFI networks.
o Experienced Technical Solutions architect
o Proven track record of designing and deploying bespoke/complex WIFI solutions
o Good domain knowledge and experience in:
- WiFi solutions- Ideally experience with several WIFI vendors Cisco, meraki, Aruba, HP
- Experience with mobile networks (small cells)- 3G,4G,LTE, core networks, Hot Spot 2.0, mobile/data offload,
- Radius protocol
- Server administration
- Transmission and core connectivity
- Core IP Networks
- ISP networks & systems
- Mikrotik technologies
- Scripting abilities
- OSS and Network management systems
- Leadership. Provide technical direction, structure and a clear baseline for the solution architecture across WiFi & Small Cells.
- Sales. Strong capability present solutions for WiFi & Small Cells clients, including an understanding of their business drivers and preferences. Must be credible up to C-level staff with major clients.
- Coordination. Strong capability to negotiate and establish consensus between the conflicting demands of client teams, development teams & operational teams.
- Supplier Management. Competent to work with other companies in the delivery of solution, in the position where the other company is a peer, an agent for the client or a supplier for solution delivery.
- Performance. Good understanding of KPIs, usage stats & availability reports, with capability to analysis the implications of these for the delivered solution, and assessment of any indicators of solution faults or non-compliance.
- Health and Safety/Environment. When considering the application of new and existing services, full H&S risk assessments and evaluations need to be conducted with specifications for the safe handling of the product to be produced. The assessment should cover Cradle to grave, including manual handling, RF, WEEE, ROHS, etc.
