Overview

Our Legal, Compliance and Government & Regulatory Affairs department manages the legal services, reviews trade reports, and educates to avoid unintentional rule breaches or conflicts of interest, and advices on regulatory and political challenges.

We protect the integrity and reputation of the bank by managing legal risk to make transactions viable and safe. We advise on ethical conduct and identify regulatory solutions. We promote and foster lawful and ethical business through a true partnership with the business.

The Compliance Monitoring and Controls Testing (MCT) team provides assurance over the 1st line of defence controls in place to manage compliance risks. As a Compliance MCT Officer, you will lead and conduct monitoring reviews to assess the business owned controls to mitigate key compliance risks while overseeing and supporting team members.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure effective issue management, including follow-up with the business on the progress of mitigation plans, review and validation of issues proposed for closure, and timely identification and escalation of concerns/slippage
    • Train and coach team members, including through sharing best practice and proactively identifying and facilitating development/learning opportunities
    • Cooperate with other control function stakeholders, including line of business (advisory) compliance, to support the effective scoping of monitoring reviews and identification of future monitoring requirements
    • Support and enhance the monitoring framework, including input into review prioritization, resource scheduling, issue escalation and review standards

You will have:

    • Detailed knowledge of one or more of the following: corporate finance, markets, asset management, wealth management, and global transaction banking
    • Extensive experience in compliance risk, audit or similar function
    • Knowledge of financial markets regulations
    • Excellent teamwork and stakeholder management skills, including supporting the wider team, liaising with Senior Management and securing appropriate outcomes from challenging issues
    • Experience in leading, training and developing team members

You will be:

    • Educated to degree level or have equivalent work experience
    • Highly competent with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • A strong communicator, with both written and verbal
