Mechanical Engineer - Electromechanical - Contract -SC Cleared - Dorset- Excellent Rates!

A member of the Electro Mechanical Engineering team. Provides technical and management support to delivery of electromechanical products such as actuation systems, electromechanical assemblies, mechanical products & sub-systems. Includes preparation of documentation such as Specifications, Test Procedures, Test Reports and Verification Reports. Manages allocated projects through design, development and qualification. Supports FAA conformity inspections.

Key responsibilities:

A strong understanding of mechanical or electromechanical engineering in the context of aerospace systems

  • Understanding of the operation and maintenance of military or civil aircraft, particularly large transport types
  • Understanding of military & civil aircraft airworthiness and certification
  • Experience of liaison with customers and suppliers
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Experience of the management of aerospace development projects
  • Understanding of systems engineering methods
  • An analytical approach to problem solving
  • Product Development - leading an area of the project and working closely with each area to ensure the project is running smoothly

Skills/Experience:

  • 5 years+ experience in an aerospace environment within systems & new product development in an avionics role
  • Have previous experience leading an Engineering Project
  • Extensive knowledge of Electro/Mechanical System Components
  • Databus specifications (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC429, CAN).
  • Development of electronic Hardware (DO-254).
  • Safety and certification of airborne software (DO-178).
  • Understanding and experience of systems engineering processes including:
  • Development and certification of complex systems (ARP4754)
  • Systems engineering life cycle processes (ISO15288).
  • Experience of requirements management using tools such as DOORS or Cradle
  • Relevant degree or equivalent
  • Experience of Mechanical product development is essential
  • Experience of braking systems would be highly advantageous.
