Overview

Corporate Banking & Securities comprises two businesses: Corporate Finance and Global Markets. The Control and Conduct Group (CCG) is part of the Corporate Banking & Securities (CB&S) Central Management which reports through to the Corporate Banking & Securities (CB&S) Divisional Control Officer.

The Supervision Policy Officer Team (SP&O) is responsible for maintaining and continually enhancing a robust supervision framework and its underlying controls and processes. There are a number of tools employed, and the key among them are a set of supervisory procedures, a dedicated supervisory platform, and a set of key risk indicators for the use of supervisors, Chief Operating Officers and senior management.

As Control and Conduct Supervision Policy Officer you be will part of a team responsible for a suite of projects which support the full range of Sales and Trading, Coverage, Research Advisory and Banking businesses. Specifically, you will be working closely with the Front Office Regional Supervision Teams, Chief Operating Officers (COOs), Business Control Units, Compliance and other Infrastructure groups to manage the policies, practices and technology that comprise the division's supervision framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining written supervisory procedures (WSPs) for the product lines, working closely with Regional Supervision and Business Control Units; ensuring that they reflect the underlying controls and are clear for its use and mapped against regulatory requirements

  • Project Managing the Supervisory Framework design and implementation which looks at the relationships of control, supervision, attestation and evidence

  • Supporting pro-active management and development of supervision controls, tools and procedures

  • Working to ensure the robustness of the control environment with the product lines by building strong relationships with the Regional Supervision teams, Compliance, Business Solutions and other Control and Conduct Group teams

  • Providing input into the design of Level 1 Controls by the Control Design team and change management team as it relates to implementation and written supervisory procedures (WSPs)

  • Acting as a facilitator between Regional Supervision teams on best practices of supervision and to support them with analysis drawn from our global supervision systems and Management Information (MI)

  • Supporting the creation of training of supervisors in supervisory systems, procedures and best practices

  • Assisting with the management of the ongoing review of business controls

  • Participating in projects around operational risk and supervision, including the refinement of existing processes

  • Assisting with ad hoc project work

You will have:

  • Supervisory experience within Operational Risk Management or internal control function

  • Reporting experience up to and including management level

  • A good understanding of regulatory and supervision standards and requirements, including experience of working with key risk indicators, performance metrics and multiple data sets

  • Proven experience of working within compliance, audit or regulatory or policy areas

  • An understanding of investment banking products, processes and the associated controls

  • The ability to remain objective and to independently raise areas of risk exposure within Control and Conduct Group (CCG)

  • Proven experience of handling projects independently

  • The ability to identify process efficiencies, suggest improvements and implement where feasible

  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
