Senior Quality Assurance Engineer- Galway, Ireland

My client, a large financial investment company, is now looking to hire a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join the ever growing team in their Galway office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quality Assurance Engineer on a daily rate contract basis.

The Job:

  • Actively participate in Agile team activities: daily scrum, iteration planning, sizing and prioritization reviews.
  • Review requirements/design documentation and implement comprehensive and traceable test plans covering this material.
  • Actively engage in the defect life cycle: creation, reproduction, retesting, and metrics management.
  • Participate in test automation activities, utilizing automated integration testing technologies.
  • Proactively communicate with/influence Scrum master, fellow QA team members, developers and business analysts to gain consensus on project issues and to resolve issues pertaining to test creation or execution.
  • Work seamlessly with development team to develop valid test approaches and scenarios.

The ideal candidate:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Finance from an accredited college/university and at least five years demonstrated work experience of functional Quality Assurance testing or an equivalent combination of related training and experience.
  • Knowledge of automation tools (preferably Cucumber, Fitnesse) is desired. At a minimum this person should be familiar with test automation concepts, and be able to demonstrate prior work experience developing test automation scripts.
  • Experience with test management utilizing HP's Quality Center.
  • Prior experience in quality assurance teams within the Financial Services and Asset Management industries desired.
  • Informatica/ETL framework testing experience desired.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Basic Oracle SQL skills, including the following: Verifying row counts; comparing values in rows, columns; creating queries containing sub queries ; joining multiple tables ; updating data to force test situations ; inserting rows into the database ; ability to understand data models.
  • Basic UNIX skills, including the following: navigating through the UNIX file system ; verifying file timestamps ; creating temporary directories; copying files ; viewing file contents ; verifying line counts.
  • Working knowledge of Java programming desired for automated test creation.
  • Knowledge of Autosys (other job management/scheduling tool).

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established company as it expands its Irish operations. This is a contract role and comes with an excellent daily rate.
