Description

The responsibilities of a SQL Support Specialist will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • operate in the Wintel Team during core Business hours 9am - 6pm GMT monitoring/supporting the SQL environments for a number of commercial customers
  • Responsible smooth running of the Application
  • Continually monitoring of the application/DB Instances on a daily basis
  • Perform Daily/Weekly/Bi-Annual maintenance tasks on SQL Installations/DB Instances were needed, including but not limited to set-up of a scheduled maintenance plan including but not limited to shipping of logs - Archive & Transactional, restore and back-up capabilities as per customer requests.
  • Solving Problem Tickets for customer issues
  • Creating Change Records for any application upgrades or Hot fixes
  • Applying/Installing new versions/DB Instances and Patching of SQL server
  • Troubleshoot Software and Connection problems
  • Open software calls where required with Application Vendor
  • Responsible for installing any additional server SQL Instances.
  • Ensuring successful delivery of the Team's SLA's
  • Handle and take responsibility for critical situations (Sev1's), communicating and working effectively with account focal points, local support and account service management
  • Communicating and working effectively with the customer, local support and account service management
  • Responsible for resolving any Open CIRATS Records
  • Installation of Microsoft APARS on a Monthly Basis and any SQL related hotfixes that apply (Irish Servers Only)

Requirements

Key attributes of the successful candidates will include:

  • Expert Knowledge in SQL Server versions & 2008R2/2012
  • Strong phone communication skills
  • Proven track record of excellent problem solving abilities in your current role
  • Ability to think laterally, be a self motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to follow customer and IBM process and procedures as directed
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative
  • Proven track record of cross functional teaming and communications
  • Be able to demonstrate an ability to absorb new information quickly
  • Professionalism and flexibility
  • Good analytical & problem solving skills

Excellent working knowledge of Windows server & 2008 R2/2012 & 2012 R2
