Infrastructure Support
6 month contract initially, likely to run to 12 months.
The Infrastructure Support role is more focused on the supporting elements of a SharePoint infrastructure. Individuals within this role would be responsible for overseeing the hardware components that SharePoint requires as well as the supporting technologies such as SQL Server, the underlying Operating System, Network and Storage.
A breakdown of the specific tasks within this role is listed below-
- Assisting in diagnosing and auctioning issues relating to Load Balancers
- Keep the operating system current with security releases and system upgrades
- All Servers, including the .NET Framework, SQL Server and SharePoint are kept up to date with patches, hotfixes and service packs
- Actively monitoring all environments and working with Operations Dept. where necessary regarding File and DB level restores
- Working with client to ensure AD import problems are resolved.
- Working with 3rd Party Clients where necessary to resolve issues
- Analyzing and diagnosing issues on all Servers using SQL, Application and SharePoint ULS logs
- Monitoring and improving backup schedules using both STSADM and SQL Maintenance Plans.
- Monitoring storage for all environments to ensure no space issues
- Carry out performance analysis and identify and performance bottlenecks and propose appropriate steps to Remedy any performance related issues
- Ensuring proper operation of all Servers in all SharePoint environments within the Department
- Ensuring proper procedures are adhered to regarding applying patching of the SharePoint and SQL environments
- Periodically review SharePoint logs and Event Logs and any errors and warnings logged along with a status update
- SQL Databases must be monitored regularly to ensure adequate disk space is available and scheduled tasks are running successfully
- Monitor IIS to ensure all web sites and application pools are operating efficiently and effectively
