Description
A Data Quality Lead is required on an initial 3 month contract to deliver the long term strategy of establishing an enterprise data quality culture where quality information is achieved, maintained, valued, and used to enable business growth and innovation.
The role:
The successful Data Quality Lead will be involved in identifying, documenting, and resolving data quality issues related to high value projects and core business data, as well as acting as a BA, working with Data Warehouse Developers and SME's to translate business objectives into practical data requirements.
The Data Quality Lead will have further responsibilities including:
* Collaborate directly with the business data owners and business analysts to establish the quality business rules that will provide the foundation of the organization's data quality improvement plan
* Work closely with Data Warehouse team to develop data quality improvement reporting
* Utilize data profiling and data quality tools to uncover and determine root causes of data quality issues
* Collaborate with the Data Warehouse team to develop data quality scripts to apply to the ETL process based on the business rules defined by business data owners
* Validate that the sites and systems meet design specifications and requirements using SQL Server database tools
* Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements and design test coverage plan.
* Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases and report test results.
* Determine data quality improvement recommendations as well as process improvement recommendations for the source systems
* Gather metadata/documentation from source systems
* Articulate the need for and benefits of data quality to both IT and the business
Essential experience for the successful Data Quality Lead:
* Problem solver with the initiative to think critically to identify improvement opportunities
* Strong knowledge of SQL needed. Ability to identify sets and subsets of information across multiple joins or unions of tables is required
* Strong understanding of data modelling concepts
* Expertise in database testing in Microsoft SQL Server environments including designing and manipulating test data, validating stored procs, jobs, triggers and replication.
* Ability to understand and create test plans from specifications or verbal communications.
* Liaison with development, project management, and customer support
Desired experience for the successful Data Quality Lead:
* Previous experience with a data quality or similar initiative
* NHS / Healthcare sector experience
* Microsoft DQS (Data Quality Services)
* Experience with Data Profiling or Data Quality software is preferred
