The Role
The SAP Basis Specialist is responsible for the technical management of the SAP environment. Primary tasks will include involvement and responsibility for SAP Solman monitoring and the SAP encryption project across the SAP estate. Responsibilities may also include configuring, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting the SAP technical environment on an on-going basis.
Principal Accountabilities
Solution manager Monitoring
- Solution Manager configuration and upkeep - agent connectivity, alert monitoring, etc. across a broad range of SAP systems - ABAP, Java, Bus Obj etc.
- Solution Manager alerting configuration for meaningful, useable alerts
- Develop and maintain system documentation for all SAP monitoring
SAP Encryption
- Applying technical knowledge to develop, support and maintain encryption across multiple SAP systems - SSL, SNC etc
- Adhere to security and auditing policies in line with on-going SAP encryption tasks
- Develop and maintain system documentation for all encryption tasks
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Experience in: installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting SAP NetWeaver (ABAP & Java) based application and technical components, (eg: SAP ECC 6.0, Enterprise Portal, Business Warehouse, Solution Manager and Business Objects)
- Experience with Solution Manager and System Landscape directory and End to End monitoring
- Working knowledge of SAP encryption technologies
- Working knowledge of UNIX(AIX)/DB2/SFTP/FTP
- Experience with change management processes and transport management
- Must be able to demonstrate solid knowledge of Root Cause Analysis
- Has good planning skills, ability to manage own time and work within agreed timescales.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
- Build and create strong relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and practices would be an advantage.
- Experience in managing workload and prioritise without supervision. This includes an ability to balance multiple high priority requests.
