Digital Test Lead (Contract)
Rate: £440 per day
Location: Leeds
IntaPeople is seeking a Digital Test Lead to join a client based in Leeds for an initial 3 month project with the chance of extension.
The successful candidate will determine and implement the testing strategy, set testing standards and test metrics. Ensure traceability of testing against requirements. Determine the approach to assurance of supplier testing and the process for end to end testing across the application and dependent systems. Define and implement best practices both within the QA team and across the wider team. Drive the usage of QA frameworks and tools. Lead recruitment to ensure the team continues to deliver and grow. Support continuous improvement in the QA team.
Key Tasks and Deliverables:
• Lead the definition of Quality Assurance and Testing processes throughout the delivery lifecycle, and the tooling used to underpin processes, within an individual agile team
• Execution of test activities within your agile team, directing any other testers (or other roles testing), assuring the delivery of high quality working software
• Contribute to the Test community, helping to define best-in-class processes that can be applied across team, sharing successes and learning from others Key accountabilities:
1. Define QA and Testing Processes and Tooling for your team
• Work with all other roles throughout the team to agree assurance and testing processes to assure the quality of their output such that it is unambiguous and consumable by following processes
• Drive Shift Left': work to define processes that reduce or eliminate defects by engineering in quality from the outset
• Define Testing processes to exercise software produced, spanning functional, performance, security, accessibility, and operational testing and utilising appropriate test automation
• Work with the team to identify tooling for use throughout the lifecycle, with an emphasis on smooth interfacing to allow process continuity (continuous build/integration/testing/delivery)
• Follow continuous delivery principles, for example, regularly reflect on and adjust your approach to be more effective
2. Execution of Testing Activities within your team (during Sprints' and / or small iterative cycles)
• Take responsibility for ensuring the conducting of test activities within your agile team o Integrate within the full Agile lifecycle, attending all regular meetings, identifying work you'll progress, progress and blockers
• Build automated tests utilising your own and departmental frameworks to ensure maintainability (cross-browser and cross-platform)
• Conduct performance tests and lead reviews on tuning applications and infrastructure
Experience Required:
• An excellent communicator with a proven ability to build relationships within a multi-disciplinary team, adapting communication to situation and individuals. A strong influencer, collegiate in approach with an ability to agree approach and a mindset to continuously improve on it.
• An experienced practitioner with broad based testing experience and fully formed ideas on best practice, able to work autonomously within a fast moving team taking accountability for building the test process with minimum external input.
• Exposure to and practice in functional and non-functional testing and the use of test automation
• In-depth knowledge of and experience working within agile teams
• Positive, can do attitude, focussed on delivery and driven to overcome problems or challenges
• Experience with multiple testing tools, particularly emerging open standards. For example, a good understanding of Confluence/Jira, Cucumber, Jenkins, JMeter / HP LoadRunner, Selenium / HP QTP, security attack proxies, vulnerability assessment tools, exploit frameworks, accessibility tools, IDS / IPS, network monitoring tools (e.g. SNMP) standard OS monitoring tools (Linux / Windows / OSX), and an appreciation of secure infrastructure deployments (e.g. PKI) Desirable • Good scripting (e.g. JavaScript, Perl, Python, shell scripting) and 3GL development abilities (including, Java, C, Ruby, C# / .net)
