Senior Operations engineer to support the Lease product
For our client in Amsterdam we are looking for Operations Engineers. In this role you will work in the Lease Fulfilment team. This team is the heart of the Lease operation within supporting 5 countries with the software.
Most of the effort in the team is focused on a large commercial of the shelf software. This includes software configuration to improve the support of the business and solve issues that occur. For this activities there is frequent contact with users and management in all the countries and with the supplier.
The challenge for the team in 2016 is to do a major upgrade of the software, country by country including, a lot of user improvements. You'll be part of this challenge.
Who are you?
We're not a regular IT team so we're not looking for regular people.
- You are team player and are able to do both operations and change activities
- You are very experienced in Oracle DB, SQL and Linux
- You have worked in previous assignments with COTS preferably in banking or assurance.
- You are experienced in continuous delivery and have at least experience with automated deployment and automated testing, preferably with API testing.
- You are a driven IT specialist with excellent analytical skills.
- You are ambitious with what you want you and your DevOps team to achieve, and you bring positive energy to the team to drive innovation.
- You have very good social and communication skills to communicate with the different business units in the countries.
- You feel a personal responsibility for the quality of your application and its reliability and are a driver in improvement. Both on the IT delivery process and also on the usage of the software by the user.
- The team also manages Exact Globe for the Lease countries. Therefore experience with Exact Globe is a pre.
Your Team - the Lease Fulfilment Team
The DevOps teams use the Agile Scrum Methodology and Continuous Delivery Engineering Practices. In the Lease Fulfilment team we made great steps with automated deployment and want to make the next steps in automated testing and monitoring.
Our team is responsible for the delivery and operation of the applications, its associated components, and interfaces. Forming part of a wider chain of applications that enable a Customer to perform a Lease transaction with.
The DevOps teams exist of engineers who are collectively responsibility for the Development, Quality Assurance/Testing and Operations of their systems, and each role has specific responsibilities.
The Lease IT department exist of three DevOps teams. The Fulfilment team is in the middle of the teams supporting the main application with the complete contract administration. This team operates on multiple levels of the application; like configuration management, interfacing, patch management, and solving incidents from our internal customers. . In the front of Fulfilment team is the Channel and services team which is responsible for the front/customer facing part of our applications. The data is delivered at the back in the Data Analytics team, doing all the reporting towards the business units and mandatory compliance reporting.
The Operations Engineer Role
For the Operations Engineer in general will actively monitor, manage, study, test, and run the application, noting the detailed technical behavior and performance across all aspects of the Application to proactively identify and prevent operational problems. The Operations Engineer is expected to understand the detailed workflow of the Application, expected transactional volumes and the detailed technical behavior of Application Servers and Databases. The Operations Engineer will participate in the team's Scrum processes.
