UNIX/Linux Engineer

My client a market leading consultancy requires a DevOps Engineer to join their team based in Manchester or Leeds. You will be joining a growing organisation working with cutting edge technology in partnership with large enterprise and blue chip organisations.
Purpose
The UNIX/Linux Engineer will help grow the existing core technical skills within the organisation that are essential to supporting and developing the automation framework used to build and deploy many business critical applications. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping to deliver and support a variety of service enable projects located within the various business units of the client.
Responsibilities
- Project Delivery: the day-to-day responsibility for technical aspects of a project, both internally at the company and at client sites
- Managing, supporting, maintaining and improving the project's infrastructure, automation, continuous integration system and application release process
- Acting as a bridge between operations and development teams
Required experience
- In-depth configuration management, automation and Scripting skills (AWS, Python. Ruby, BASH etc.) Excellent Linux/Unix system administration skills
- In-depth knowledge of platform and application automated deployment technologies (eg Cobbler, Puppet, Chef, Tivoli Provisioning Manager, Foreman)
- Exposure to iterative/agile development methodologies (SCRUM, XP, DSDM, RUP etc.) Exposure to continuous integration and build tools
- Understanding of software and infrastructure architecture
- Excellent Linux/Unix system administration skills
- In depth knowledge of virtualisation platforms and cloud orchestration technologies.
