Description

Experience of working in a Solution Architect role. Delivery of high level designs across a range of projects in multiple industries.

Working with business stakeholders in assessing ideas and evaluating potential solutions.

  • Experience of working within Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, ZACHMAN
  • Understanding of Architecture patterns and models such as Service Orient Architecture (SOA), Software as a Service (SaaS)
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of designing Salesforce solutions. Ideally both Salesforce ServiceCloud and SalesCloud.
  • Strong Experience with Visualforce, Apex, Eclipse IDE
  • Experience in designing integrations including: Force.com SOAP and REST-based Web Service APIs, the Bulk API, and the Metadata API
  • Data migration experience is desirable: Apex Data Loader and other ETL tools such as Informatica
  • Design of web solutions is desirable: CSS, Java, JavaScript, DHTML, HTML, XML, AJAX preferable
  • Experience with database design/development, SQL or PL/SQL, database schemas, stored procedures is highly preferable

Certifications/Training:

  • TOGAF or BCS Certification in Solution Architecture
  • Salesforce Certified Force.com Developer (DEV 401)
  • Desirable: Salesforce Certified Force.com Advance Developer (DEV 501)

Solution Architect Role description:

Assessment of business ideas

- In portfolios where it is required of this role, assist in the assessment of business ideas, project scoping, the feasibility analysis of systems based solutions, and very rough order of magnitude estimates for alternative solution options

Estimating

- Assist in the production/validation of project estimates

- Assist in the validation of estimates provided by other portfolios, horizontals and third parties

Requirements definition

- In portfolios where it is required of this role, assist with the investigation and cataloguing of functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring they align to the Outline Design and agreed scope

High level and detailed designs

- Produce High Level Designs for new systems and changes of any size and complexity

- Ensure that all High Level and Detailed Designs meet agreed business requirements, align with Strategy and Architecture, are cost effective, deliverable and supportable

- Agree any divergence from the Enterprise Architecture standard for tactical business reasons with the relevant Enterprise Architect

- Act as the Technical Design Authority within a project to ensure that the Detailed Design, Build and Test align with the High Level Design to provide agreed quality assurance

- Supervise and review the Outline Designs, High Level Designs and Detailed Designs produced by other resources, partners and third parties

- Act as the peer reviewer for High Level Designs within own portfolio and collaborate with Solution Architects across Solution Delivery

Business engagement and stakeholder management

- Build strong relationships with peers in the business and all areas of Boots IT (including Strategy & Architecture, Test Team, Service Introduction and Applications Management)

- Achieve a wide view on all significant developments in own portfolio and across Solution Delivery, and ensure synergies and areas of misalignment are managed to successful conclusion

Industry trends

- Regularly investigate and keep abreast of industry trends in own specific areas of expertise and within IT in general, ensuring that knowledge is kept relevant and up to date

- Build and maintain relationships with existing suppliers and potential future suppliers to build awareness of supplier roadmaps and industry best practices

Knowledge management

- Participates in knowledge sharing of domain artifacts with the Solution Architecture community to enable cross fertilisation of ideas, a wider understanding of the domain across the IT community.

- Facilitate the on-boarding of new team members and partner resources

- Participates in the creation and maintenance of design patterns, standards and design blocks to facilitate wider consistency and promote re-use of design elements, delivery at pace, quality assurance and cost efficiencies
