A senior software development manager with experience of leading large teams across different technologies (Java, .net ). You must also have Devops!
Likely to be someone who has fulfilled their potential as a Technical Leader and be already for a role where they can leverage and impart their knowledge to set up a best practice software engineering function.
Can articulate what best practice is both in terms of process, methods, tools and people - not focused on tools only but takes a holistic view.
Experience of implementing process methods and tools and people improvement activity across a number of development teams
Technical - up to date with technologies and hands-on ie can still do development themselves when they need to.
Influential - very strong communicator at senior level - ie can present to a senior audience with confidence and clarity
Inspiring and enthusiastic - able to enthuse the development community to participate, contribute to the development of methods and practices and to adopt them
Able to articulate a vision of what great software engineering looks like with authority and to create a roadmap and plan for how to get there
Able to make the value case for investment in software engineering good practice to a senior non-technical audience
Resilient - able to work in the Boots environment where not everything you wish for materialises when you want it
Able to navigate around issues and blockers and find alternative ways to achieve an objective, does not give up or become discouraged
Very delivery focused - able to turn and vision and roadmap into a plan to deliver
Passionate, confident, energetic and enthusiastic about software engineering and able to enthuse development teams and others to contribute
Seen as an expert and a leader/driver of change who others will follow
Must have experience of transforming ways of working and introducing new tools, processes and methods or devops understanding.
