Role
The External Website Services team within the Australian Government Shared Services Centre is responsible for the development of new and existing external facing websites.
The team works with Drupal, Linux, Bitbucket/Git, web standards and modern web development policies.
The candidate will be required to:
- undertake server configuration and database administration
- troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test and production environments
- undertake monitoring, back-up processes and deployment systems and
- undertake patching as required (out of hours).
Responsibilities of this position will include:
- Developing and maintaining automation and processes to enable the team to deploy, manage, configure and monitor services
- Actively participating in high level team activities such as architecture improvements and recommending process improvements
- System troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and applications (with availability required for on-call escalations to troubleshoot issues)
- Undertaking and leading weekly Drupal patching cycles including deploying these to various environments.
Selection Criteria
Candidates MUST respond to each of the Selection criteria along with 3 Referees in word document, otherwise application can't be accepted.
Essential Criteria:
1. Strong background in Linux systems and administration, including Shell Scripting and performance tuning
2. Excellent understanding of Internet technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSL etc.)
3. Knowledge about the deployment and maintenance of Drupal CMS and other web applications or with LAMP stack apps
4. Familiar with tools like Zabbix, Nagios, New Relic, Stackdriver, Pingdom etc.
5. Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
6. Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS is required)
7. Experience with MySQL
8. Comfortable with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
9. A strong focus on business outcomes
10. Comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
11. Comfortable with Agile methodologies and working closely within small teams
Desirable Criteria:
1. Coding skills in Python, PHP or another interpreted language like Perl or ruby.

Security Clearance:-
Requires all specified personnel to have a minimum BASELINE VETTING (Protected) security clearance prior to commencement.
All positions are Trusted and the successful candidate is required to undertake police check to be conducted by the department. Unfavourable outcome may result to early termination of the contract. This check will be arranged by the Shared Services Centre on commencement of the contractor. The Australian Government will meet the cost of police check
