Infrastructure Project Manager- (Infrastructure migration/ Hyper-V environment/ Windows 2008 R2 servers/ Peterborough- Market rate- ASAP- 3 months
Large manufacturing organisation has engaged in a 12 month project to migrate current servers from Win 2003 to Windows 2012 or 2008 R2 so experience in a decommissioning/migration / rollout / virtualisation project is vital.
Knowledge and experience of infrastructure migration and rollout projects is vital. Successful candidates will be managing activities across all four work streams. Coordinate customer sites, suppliers and IS colleagues to arrange upgrades, downtime and support. Budget, task and resource control, tracking and reporting. Part of the role will be to managing and mentoring a Junior PM.
It is divided into four work streams; Establish the Hyper-V environment; Create the core servers; Migrate file and print services; Upgrade application servers. Decommission Windows 2003 servers at 20+ supported sites in UK and Europe, replacing them with Windows 2012 or Windows 2008 R2 servers. The commissioned servers will be virtual where possible, and the project will provide a resilient Hyper-V platform at in-scope sites that do not currently have one. Migrate Windows 2008 and later servers from legacy domain to new domain.
Candidates must have experience hands-on experience of Project Management methodologies (Prince2, PMI or similar), proven track record in managing the commercial & budgetary aspects of projects. Ability to explain technical solutions in a non-technical way to stakeholders. Experience in using Microsoft Project and other tools to plan projects. Knowledge of the ITIL Framework. Will be responsible for the definition, documentation and completion of projects of varying complexity ensuring time, cost and quality parameters are agreed, monitored and met. It will involve the management of virtual project teams, revenue and capital budgets, risks and issues and stakeholder management. It demands good leadership skills along with a positive, proactive, flexible approach with a can-do attitude. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good attention to detail and a systematic approach. Track risks, issues, actions and budget accurately during the lifecycle of projects and escalating, where required, to the project sponsor. Ensure any 3rd party relationships required to deliver projects are managed effectively from both a commercial and delivery perspective.
