Description

I am looking for a MySQL DBA/Ruby Engineer required until May 2016. SC cleared preferred, with a minimum BPSS cleared.

Responsible for
* Monitoring a MariaDB (MySQL) Database cluster & underlying applications; ensuring the application is up and running at all times.
* Identification of performance issues with the cluster and underlying applications code
* Implementing of fixes (ensuring that all fixes are tested before rollout)
* Providing statistics on the stability of the system, issues identified and effect of fixes implemented
* Will support the implementation of a replacement system by helping to create a parallel test environment and tools to allow comparison between old and new systems.

Experience required
* Must be an experienced MariaDB/MySQL DBA; in particular must know how to monitor and performance tune a busy database system.
* Will have led investigations and identified remedial actions
* Will know how to devise, test and safely implement changes on a production system.
* Experienced software developer, preferably with Ruby on Rails (experience of other languages is acceptable but the successful candidate will need learn Ruby on Rails)
