Electrical Systems Engineer 6 months Contract

The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing spacecraft telemetry to ensure the health and continued operations of the fleet of four geostationary telecommunications spacecraft. Primarily covering the electrical power subsystem ensuring that in-orbit electrical operations are planned and executed efficiently and procedures are implemented to maximise the life of the spacecraft. Furthermore, analysis and investigation of anomalous behaviour and provision of solutions to complex problems will be required.
You will also ensure that regular trend reports are produced in a timely manner.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
*Monitor day-to-day platform subsystems (EPS, Thermal, TT&C) on our spacecraft.
*Produce Platform Subsystem analysis on a monthly basis (battery, Solar Array etc.)
*Produce a yearly trend analysis report of the performance of the Power, Thermal and TT&C subsystems.
*Provide analysis of battery performance during Solstice periods.
*Provide analysis of spacecraft performance during Eclipse periods.
*Provide technical support and advice for spacecraft on-station operations
*Liaise with spacecraft design and IOS team to optimise operations.
*Provide technical representation at electrical subsystem anomaly investigations and technical reviews as required.
*Produce technical reports as required by the Space Engineering Manager and SMA
*Optimise the automation process used to generate the various reports
*Understand and monitor the applicable ground equipment.
*Contribute to risk assessment of all aspects of spacecraft design, build and test for future projects and support through all build & launch phases.
*Support all Nuclear Hardening aspects of the spacecraft from analysis to implementation.
*All staff are to comply with applicable Health and Safety, Fire, Human Resources and Security policies.

Required skills and experience
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

*BSc Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, Engineering, Maths or suitable experience in lieu;
*Previous experience in a Space Engineering environment with a suitable background such as Product Manufacture, Space Architecture and AIT is an advantage;
*Some experience in Spacecraft Electrical Systems Engineering or an aptitude to learn;
*Competent user and developer of Microsoft Excel/Visual Basic for Applications;
*Knowledge of Eurostar Spacecraft Engineering especially E3000 would be appreciated;
*Ability to read technical papers;
*Ability to solve problems;
*Good written and verbal communications skills;
*Fluent level in English; Intermediate level in French would be desirable;
*Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel.
*Electrical Power systems experience
*Experience with reporting and computer literate, competent with excel and using spreadsheets.
