Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Press Officer to work within Central Government. This position will be based in London initially for 3 months at £135 per day LTD Company.

Job Description

Press Officers work as part of small specialist teams in the press office. They have particular portfolios with subjects they are responsible for offering media handling advice to Ministers, Special Advisers and officials on these areas.

Key tasks and deliverables

: Build, sustain and deliver effective day-to-day working relationships with national and international police, criminal justice and other specialist and trade press and broadcast media journalists and editors speaking with authority and persuasively on behalf of the College to explain its role within UK policing and protecting its reputation nationally and internationally.

: Write high quality press releases and press packs to promote College initiatives in the national and international media and on the College of Policing website.

: Participate in the proactive management and monitoring of Real Time engagement through the Colleges corporate social media channels to promote public awareness of and participation with the College and its activities, ensuring that messages are delivered in an appropriate tone and reflect accurately and consistently the Colleges publicly stated positions.

: Develop creative ideas and contribute to College of Policing publications and newsletters profiling innovation, standard setting and evidence-based practice across policing.

Experience Required

: Successful experience of delivering a broad range of press and media relations services within an organisation.
: Experience of delivering crisis management communications to protect organisational reputation.
: Experience of using social media and maximising benefits of social media channels.
: Experience in using media databases to support effective delivery of media relations activity.
: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including accurate use of language and grammar.
: Excellent negotiating and networking skills, able to form beneficial working relationships internally and externally.
