SAM Consultant is responsible for engaging and assisting customers in understanding and controlling their IT Asset costs, avoiding legal pitfalls related to licensing, procurement and other related processes by leveraging industry best practices.

Build best practice library of content practice and presales development

Train the team on the latest tools and technologies around Software Asset Management

Develop RUCs for SAM solution and presentation

Contribute to white papers and trainings to sales teams on SAM solution for business development

Architect Service Management processes and procedures including:

Software Licensing Operations and Optimization

Contract Management
-
Procurement
-
Financial Management
-
Software License Compliance

Software Asset Management

Integrations with complimentary systems, such as service management, auto-discovery and configuration management data base (CMDB)

Advise on improvements and automation

Architect solutions based upon functional and non-functional specifications
Set and manage customer expectations with regard to project timelines and solution features
- Extensive experience in providing consulting services around managing software licenses preferably in a service provider company
- Experience in management of high value and/or high complexity IT leasing contracts, financial analysis, and business risk analysis
- Exposure to Microsoft Windows OS/Linux/VMware/Oracle etc. support & administration in a production environment.
- In depth understanding of major IT infrastructure software vendor products like Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Adobe VMware, Citrix, Symantec, Redhat, EMC, HP etc.
- In depth experience in managing various license contracts - such as Select, SPLA, VSPP, Enterprise, Volume Licensing, Cloud services, Hosting etc.
- Successful experience in dealing with vendor discussions and negotiations.
- Proven track record of cost savings/efficiencies generated from licensing activities
- In depth experience of software usage Terms & Conditions, licensing calculations on standalone and virtualized & cloud environments. Ability to know where to go to seek information on licensing tasks.
- In depth knowledge of server hardware platforms like HP, Dell, IBM, Sun etc.
- Experienced in SAM and discovery tools like Flexera, SNOW, Microsoft SCCM, BMC ADDM, IBM TAD4D, and Symantec Altiris.
- Strong presentation, organization, multitasking, and time management skills
- Good problem solving and consultative skills required
- Advanced experience in IT/IS management, demonstrated ability to influence and meet project deliveries through team members without direct reporting structure.
- Exposure to ITIL specifically on Configurations Management would be preferred. ITIL foundation/CMDB practitioner certification would be added advantage
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Awareness of ISO SAM standard
- IAITAM certified
- ITIL® V3 Foundation certified
- CSAM
