Planning Engineer (Infrastructure Planning Team)

One of our large Telecoms clients is currently looking for a Planning Engineer within the Infrastructure Planning Team based in Bristol

Infrastructure Planning are responsible for the planning of all the physical infrastructure, which includes consideration for Copper, Fibre,Power, Space and Cooling whether it is an install, upgrade or decommission of equipment, transmission, patching across 39 technical sites, 52 comms rooms, 2 test beds and 3 Internet pop sites.
As well as meeting the demands of NS&C Infrastructure Planning also support customers across the other directorates in technology and plan on behalf of ITN data centres and comms rooms, RAN deployment and Test within the test bed
environment

To undertake the planning, dimensioning and allocation of the technical environment resources (including Switch Sites, Data Centres and Equipment rooms) to ensure an excellent customer experience
- Act as a point of contact for the ordering of new infrastructure capacity and provide advice and guidance to internal customers and vendors.
- Undertake the quotation, raising, progression and tracking of orders for new infrastructure capacity on time and to budget.
- Develop tools, processes and standards to enable the accurate monitoring of quotations and orders.
-Evaluate quotations and vendor performance against agreed pricing and SLAs.
-Provide skills and knowledge to investigate and resolve discrepancies between the accounting systems and the vendors invoice, by reviewing quotations and working with Finance.
-Work with teams from Core Network and Sourcing to contribute to vendor performance reviews, pricing and ordering requirements.
-Take responsibility for delivery targets, scheduling own work and the work of others to enable daily activity targets to be met.
-Allocate, plan and coordinate resources to meet commercial objectives and within own function:
Works cooperatively with others in own area and other teams within NS&C.
Project managers to ensure consistency of effort and aligned delivery.
Senior manager, Senior Engineer, Workflow team and Peers
Reporting & informing.across other function:
Works cooperatively with others in own area and other teams within the Network Services Directorate.

external suppliers:
Will have formal dealings with vendor suppliers and MSP's.
external customers:
May have limited contact with MVNO and Corporate customers.

Essential:
Some knowledge and experience of Technical Environments covering capacity planning, delivery and operation of the equipment and associated systems.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the Organisation
Knowledge of capacity monitoring, planning,dimensioning and management.
Experience of developing and implementing capacity strategies, processes, procedures and reports.
Some experience of analysing and breaking down problems and information using structured frameworks and methodologies.

nice to have:
* Some Knowledge of managing technical relationships with equipment vendors, third-party suppliers.
* Knowledge switch site and data centre technical environments.
* Awareness of telecommunications, mobile network or IT technologies.
* Awareness of the technical delivery life cycle including Design, Build, Test, Implementation and Operation.
* Understanding of the Core Network.
Awareness of establishing working relationships,
especially within one or more of Technology,
Operations, Customer Marketing, Business Services.
Knowledge of developing, implementing or supporting solutions to meet specific customer requirements.
