DESCRIPTION:

The ETL Developer will ensure that all ETL - DataStage batches have completed before start of business in the morning.

The role will be available for maintaining the ETL environments by monitoring their performance to ensure functionality, integrity and security of the environments and compliance with information security and change management processes. Providing technical assistance, advice and guidance in response to enquiries on the functionality of BI/ETL tools, and data in related DataMarts, to ensure efficient and uninterrupted services to business users with primary focus on data fixes existing and new (inclusive)

SKILLS:

- 8+ Years of experience in designing, developing, testing, and implementing ETL solutions using IBM DataStage version 8.5 or 8.7

- 4+ years of expertise in RDBMS, DataMart and Data Warehouse design. Knowledge of data modelling

- Experience working with high volume data exchange and transaction processing systems, preferably in a custom software development environment

- Strong understanding of ETL best practices

- 5+ years of solid experience in Cobol, JCL, DB2, SAS, VSAM, CICS & CA7

- Experience writing well documented unit tests and executing them

- 5+ years working knowledge of Scripting languages like Korn/Bash Shell Scripting

- Experience of reverse-engineering data mappings based on application-layer code highly desirable

- Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing

- Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile Methodologies

- Degree in computer science, math, engineering or equivalent work experience

- 3+ Experience working with IBM Cognos BI tools

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide support for Enterprise Warehouse operations (eg monthly update of DataMarts, EDW, and IM Catalogue related systems to ensure the delivery of timely, accurate and reliable data to business users. This includes monitoring the update processes, updating/maintaining the appropriate system documentation, identifying potential problems and implementing solutions to ensure the efficiency and reliability of the IM operations.

- Maintain the ETL environments by monitoring their performance to ensure functionality, integrity and security of the environments and compliance with information security and change management processes. Identify and troubleshoot problems as they arise which may involve interacting with other areas for resolution.

- Monitor and administer automated and manual data integration and ETL jobs to verify execution and measure performance.

- Provide technical assistance, advice and guidance to business users in response to enquiries on the functionality of BI/ETL tools, and data in related DataMarts to ensure efficient and un-interrupted IM services to the business users.

- Candidate should be conversant with ETL methodologies and job design with a sound knowledge and experience of integrating input/jobs from disparate systems and be able to maintain standards of ETL best practices

- Responsibilities including monitoring all batch flow processing and ensure timely completion of endpoints/milestones. Identify delays or bottlenecks using proprietary and vendor tools and resolve or escalate accordingly.

- Be proactive and check to make sure all daily and monthly runs work smoothly.

- Perform level 1 and level 2 support and resolution for all batch abends and document what was done to resolve. Lead and perform enterprise scheduler schedule updates.

- Track incoming and outgoing transmissions ensuring they meet deadlines, escalating to appropriate vendors and Datacenter management when necessary.

- Monitor Real Time performance of the computing environment utilizing automated solutions, 3rd party monitoring software and in-house proprietary tools.

- Perform and verify system configuration changes as specified during weekend maintenance/shutdown periods.

- Respond to all hardware faults or failures requiring escalation and support from outside vendors. Work with vendors toward resolving these incidents. Report them via incident management process.

- Respond to all console messages and alerts requiring intervention and action.

- Track and document all outages and incidents which adversely impact the environment

- Candidate must have experience in Mainframe batch environment and CAD environment; knowledge of support operations, best practices and processes.

- Provide application teams with support on problem determination and resolution of scheduling issues.

- Create reports and presentation materials related to scheduling.

- Documents all aspects of the batch schedule.

- Ensure Service Level Agreements are met for applications supported.

- Follow up on production control issues from daily change requests.

- Ensure daily scheduling requests are completed accurately and on time.

- Support Disaster Recovery tests.

- Familiarity in managing within a compliance framework.
