Data Scientist/Big Data Developer - HPCC/ECL, Oxford
£455 per day
My leading global client is currently recruiting a Data Scientist/Big Data Developer to work on a complex and multifaceted Big Data Project. We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to support and work with an existing team of developers and Data Scientists on a variety of Entity Analytics projects currently underway. The ideal candidate will be a talented, versatile, and enthusiastic individual with relevant prior experience who enjoys digging into data.
This role supports projects using the HPCC Systems big data platform, its ECL programming language, and the SALT Entity Analytics package. The successful candidate will work closely with an experienced Data Scientist and HPCC mentors to devise and perform analysis supporting the Entity Analytics processes. Prior experience analysing data, generating ideas for analysis, formulating analysis procedures, executing the actual analysis, interpreting the results, presenting results, and discussing results with your peers is required. Candidates are expected to be detail-oriented, technically creative, and demonstrate the ability to perform "deep-analysis" on a daily basis. Prior programming experience processing data and doing analysis in a Linux compatible environment using tools like Python, Perl, bash, gawk, R, Java, C++ is required. Prior relevant experience with SAS or analysis using other software (including Windows-based software) will also be considered. Prior experience with HPCC Systems and ECL is not required, but is a strong plus. Prior experience performing analysis of large datasets is a plus. Prior experience using other Big Data platforms is a plus.
Key Tasks
*Write ECL code to prepare data for analysis

*Evaluate SALT generated Entity Analytic data, identify/evaluate interesting patterns, and make suggestions for improving results.

Required:
*Masters level technical degree
*Academic experience beyond statistics
*Demonstrated ability to devise, plan, perform, evaluate, and discuss "deep analysis" on large datasets
*Prior programming experience and a genuine interest in coding.
