Description
My client is an E-commerce company based in London who are looking for a Ruby on Rails Developer for a 6 month contract beginning in January. They must also have good HTML/CSS, experience with API development and ideally some DevOps or AWS experience.
The ideal candidate will have solid Ruby on Rails experience with Real Server experience and HTML/CSS coding skills. They will also have worked on projects which involve API and anyone with Mobile or cloud experience would be highly desirable. They employ an Agile/TDD/BDD approach so candidates from that background are also desirable. This work will involve working on Greenfield projects.
Main Responsibilities
- Write clean, maintainable and efficient code (with tests!)
- Work with all areas of the business to help figure out what's important
- Participate in code reviews and pair programming when appropriate
- Regularly release new features, following Continuous Delivery
- Keep up to date with the latest standards and best practices
- Help make the best products humanly possible

Skills & Requirements
Required:
- An expert in Ruby on Rails
- Confident with TDD
- A track record of developing scalable web applications
- Experience deploying to real Servers (ie not Heroku, but they do love Heroku)
- Basic knowledge of Front End technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Experience developing an API
Desirable:
- Interest and/or experience in a DevOps culture (AWS/Chef)
- Familiarity with background processors (Sidekiq)
- Experience with AWS
- Working within Agile development environments
