Summary:
  • The position is a specialist within the Engineering Services group and occasionally provides interpretation and problem solving advice to others inside and outside of the department.
  • Typical internal customers include the position's work group and immediate supervisor.
  • External contacts include Product Support, Engineering, and possibly a dealer or customer call.
  • The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems.
  • The incumbent generally resolves issues by following departmental guidelines or contact software support as needed.
  • Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, etc.
  • The position has direct impact on parts sales through the development of quality parts information.
JOB PURPOSE:
  • To electronically create and maintain Service and Parts Information published on DealerNet EZParts for use by customers and dealers worldwide.
  • Work with corporate Service Information Systems (SIS) Authoring Leads to ensure alignment between Service Information publishing applications.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining EZParts content from Engineering Drawings and the SIS application for Online Service Information and Service Parts Ordering.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of EZParts information elements and for completing authoring work by established deadlines.
  • Expected to achieve accuracy and completeness with limited input from senior members of the group.
  • Follows department standards and guidelines to prepare and compile parts information by working pending Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and creating or revising parts information elements (IE).
  • Obtains information from SIS Parts Project Leaders to enter NPI and Current Products parts information.
  • Expected to be able to work across all product lines.
  • Reviews ECNs and drawings, existing parts IEs, other parts record data, and decides how serviceable parts will be displayed in EZParts.
  • Chooses to use a new illustration or revise an existing illustration originating from engineering drawings or SIS published content.
  • Responsible to occasionally update minor 2D graphics, creates and maintains caption data, and updates the File Management System with change history data.
  • Identifies discrepancies or incompleteness of incoming data and seeks assistance from the senior members of the team if needed.
  • Communicates discrepancies to data originator, which often times is an SPIA, with reason for return and potential solution or fix.
  • From these same sources, receives advice regarding complex parts information elements, such as types of illustrations to use (orthographic, etc.)
  • Expected to use a complement of parts authoring software tools in completing tasks: EZData to create and maintain EZParts parts consists; Service Information System (SIS) to access parts list details and illustrations to compare with EZParts contents, determine ECNs to apply to models; Teamcenter to retrieve geometry used in IEs, CREO to retrieve geometry used in IEs, Engineering Data System (EDS) to review Bill of Materials and Notices, Adobe Professional to edit illustrations, Excel basic, Synch Tool to synchronize EZData content.
Typical Day:
  • Independently operates EZData software 6-8 hours a day creating or maintaining Service Information and Parts Lists content for several product lines.
  • Occasional use of supporting applications through out the day; EDS/HVC, Teamcenter, CREO, SIS, Adobe Professional, Excel. Communicates with Product Support, Engineers, and SIS Authors as needed.
SKILLS:

Education/Experience:
  • Associates Degree or two years' experience in similar field.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Knowledge to interpret engineering drawings, analyze parts lists, and work with illustrations.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize work load.
Technical Skills:
  • Engineering Drawing Interpretation
  • Familiar with EDS/HVC or can learn quickly.
  • Understands purpose of Service Part Manuals (understands concept)
  • Understands purpose of Operator Manuals
